Friend of mine attended your last afrcom shoot up at Browns Camp. I signed up for the boards recently and have just now gotten around to making a "Hi there" post. As for my collection of various and sundry firearms...

So far I have these:

The other day I picked up this by trading the Mini-14 and the .357 revolver shown in the first pic.

Stag Arms lower, but not sure about the upper. Heavy Barrel, the scopes a little ncStar of which I have heard bad reviews but, hell, it practically free. And practically free is a price often beat only by totally free unless it isn't worth the materials its made from. I havent beean able to do a proper sight in yet, so I guess we'll see what we'll see.

Incidentally, I have an email off to my state congressional folks about SB925. I'm waiting to hear back from them. My people are Sen. Gary George and Rep. Donna Nelson. Both are republicans so I hope to be able to bend a sympathetic ear on the issue.

You can take it to the bank that Sen George is on our side.

I believe Donna Nelson is as well.

+1 Is this young Gary George or "old" Gary George?  I worked on several initiatives with Gary George of Oregonians In Action.  His Dad was a rep at the time.  Both very conservative, very good people.

Thanks for the welcome :)
Nice little spot on the intrarwebnet you've all got here.

I believe this would be Gary George Sr. going by his photo. I'm over in Carlton, lived there for the last 10 years-ish. Before that spent two years living in Hillsboro and before that lived in Aumsville for 4 years, but grew up on a farm just outside west Salem. I was able to get a better sight-in yesterday at a friends place on my AR and I am well pleased with the groups. The scope isn't bad, but it does seem to keep wanting to wander high/left a little which is damned annoying.

By the way, does anyone know off the top of your heads who has the best case prices on .223? I would prefer not to use the Wolf stuff because of the lacquer sealant. I can already see it's building up very quickly. Wally World (Walmart) has ncie 40 round boxes of Winchester USA (white box stuff) for like $7.75 but they don't give a price break for cases.

Try this place in Salem. somebody posted about it the other day,and I stopped in today and picked up a case of 7.62x39. Wolfe isn't using the laquer anymore, they switched to a polymer that supposedly doesn't gum things up. I'd call if you want anything other than ammo as they didn't have any stripper clips there and only one mag follower. Might be closed on Fri-Sat and Sunday. Follow Mission/22E out and turn right on 22nd SE.

Welcome.  Wasn't there enough room in the safe for the Mini-14 and AR?    Nice AR though!  And welcome to the disease.

Didn't know about that place in Salem, I'll give them a look. Actually, I still don't have room in the safe for all the long guns. I have to keep the shotgun next to it. Guess that means I will have to get another safe...which means of course I will have to get more guns to put into it...which means I will need, eventually, to get another safe, etc., etc., ad naseum ;)

Outdoor Marksman has recently changed their hours - it appears that they ARE open on Fridays and Saturdays now.  Used to be closed on those days due to all the gunshows that they travel all over to.

As always, call ahead to make sure.

NorWester is correct about the Wolf stuff now - if it's got a grey steel case, it's good.  Green steel (the older stuff) still has the laquer on it.

Last case of 7.62x39 and 5.56x45 that I picked up from Outdoor Marksman was the grey-cased polymer-coated stuff.

I haven't ran any through my AR, as ch139 was buying that case, but both of his rifles that I saw him using last time (one being a stinky Colt) ate it up without any issue.

I think the general consensus is that it's OK to run Wolf in AR's now.

That's good news to hear that Wolf is worth shooting. Of course I will still try out 4 or 5 boxes of the new stuff before buying a case to make sure that my particular rifle has no troubles with it. Friend of mine has a Colt that the last time we went out it got a FTE so bad that he ruined his cleaning rod when he got home trying to get it unstuck of that old green case stuff. hinking.gif
