The Shit has hit the Fan in Hoboken!!

UPDATE

Cammarano: Disband the SWAT unit, suspend cops

Councilman Peter Cammarano says the city should disband the SWAT team and suspend all the officers connected to the pictures of Hooters waitresses posing with cops and guns during a trip in 2005 to help with Hurricane Katrina clean-up efforts

The comment coming from the Hoboken P.D. about personal firearms is B.S.

The upper with the less than 16” barrel makes it a Class III Weapon (Machine gun) as per the ATF Regulations. In addition the AR15/M4 also appears to have a ACE SOCOM collapsible stock. That stock is one of the EVIL features not permitted in the People’s Republic of New Jersey for personal use by the peasants or off duty Cops

The shotgun appears to be a Benelli M2 Tactical Shotgun with a magazine capacity that exceeds the NJ limitation of 5 rounds for Semi-Autos. The one in the picture can accommodate the EVIL 8 rounds and has a  EVIL pistol grip. Not permitted for the Peasants or off duty Cops

What i don't understand is how can this Lt. think it's "ok" to take pictures of him and his officers in their official uniforms. Right there, that's probably against department policy. Perhaps he should've spent his free time reading about the departments policy.

If he were in "plain clothes", then maybe.....just maybe he'd have a leg to stand on.

Stupid move, yes. Does Homo-broken need a SWAT team, no.

But aside from the above, remember when Cops and the Firemen were able to have a little fun?

Punishment, okay, job loss, no. Again, real STUPID, but we need to get over these things as a society. We have lost our sense of humor and tolerance in so many ways.

I don't think the issue is that we've lost our sense of humor and tolerance so much as it is the holier than thou, cop mentality, double standard that goes on and is continually perpetuated by the system.  If you or I had done that, especially if it happend here at home in NJ, we'd be railroaded through the system faster and harder that if we had raped the governor's daughter, yet they are supposed to only get reprimanded and go on about their daily duties, on our dime, and still being armed with weaponry purchased with our dime.  I could care less if they need to blow off steam every now and then, that's only human.  But don't do it out of state in official, taxpayer purchased uniforms and equipment and say it's nothing of concern.  Oh and the claim that they were personal weapons....The last time I checked, NJ has no exemption in their "assault weapon" laws for police personnel unless it is strictly for official police use.  So who's personal firearm was/is the short barreled rifle, which falls under NFA regulation and are utterly illegal in NJ???

Like I said, no tolerance...meaning the Gov't and the public.

We lash out because we have been targeted so often and rightfully so. I'm not so sure they submitted a bill to get reimbursed from Hooters...then again it is Ho'broken and they have had more then their fare share of corruption and misdealings at the government level. Whether we like it or not, there will and has been a double standard.

Shit, look what happened to the Passaic County Sheriff's that were speeding thru VA to get back home after Katrina. Some young, locale hot-shot, anti-Yankee pulled them over, gave them shit for speeding and instead of contacting the Sheriff himself to file a complaint, he went to the media to air his discontent.

We all need to take a step back and relax is all I am saying. To illustrate a point, try to release Blazing Saddles, The Little Rascals, All in the Family, The Jefferson's, etc now. You'd be chastised and run out of town...so much for the First Amendment. And yet Twanda Brawley's case will be handled like a special case instead of the POS that she and everyone on her team deserves to be treated.

Wojo, I agree with most of your sentiment.  My main point is that if they want everyone to lighten up about their behavior while covered head to toe in taxpayer funded gear, then they should also relax when it comes to dealing with those same taxpayers.  Just the mere sight of a weapon of any kind, let alone a firearm, brings in the  "SWAT" team( Quoted because lately it seems like everything they have would have qualified as SWAT 20 years ago), and their SOP it to take everyone out of the equation and let the courts sort it out, regardless of whether a crime has actually been committed.  But this occurs at the expense of the accused, and if/when exonerated, their record needs to be shredded as though it never happened in the first place.  The double standard exists.  That's why we don't need "assault rifles", but the "authorities" need "patrol rifles".  Not to mention how many things are illegal now that were perfectly normal years ago.  Your TV and Movie titles are the perfect example.  I see us as a state and as a country moving closer and closer to the defining moment where we either fight back, or become like the German Jews in WW2.  And the current police issues aren't helping any.

I agree with you on 95% of what you said. Mind you, these guys don't make the laws. And like in the Movie Cool-hand Luke, "just because it is your job, doesn't make it right".

Our endeavor, is to purge NJ of the morally corrupt politicians that make these draconian laws in an effort to make themselves the White Knights saving the masses from the evil gun owners. Hitler was very effective at this type of propaganda as you are well aware. Hitler also wiped out the rank and file police departments as well. When I visited Dauchau I was blown away at some of the things that were discussed by the tour guides. They were quite anti-Nazi to say the least.

From my experience, LEO's that are under 35 and don't hunt are more prone to being anti RKBA where as the older guys lean towards being pro-RKBA for responsible people. Guns are very much an occupational hazard to them. As a civilian, I've worked with and have spent some time with my County's and a Gov't SWAT team. I am pretty forward with asking questions that most people would hesitate to ask. I will IM later you on some things that have been shared with me. I dare not post some of it here, because things will get distorted, twisted and taken the wrong way.
I'm sure that I'll get flamed either way...
