Hi from Michigan!

Are any of you familiar with the campgrounds and State partks in the Hocking Hills area?  My wife and I are talking about heading there with another couple.  We'd be in our pop-up, and they'd like to stay in a cabin.  Are there any campgrounds that have cabins available that you' recommend?

Thanks!

My ex wife is from that part of the state.  We used to take drives through there quite a lot.  It's a beautiful area.

Made the link hot

It really is a nice place to go.  There's a lot to see in the area, especially if you are the outdoorsy type.

My wife and I are planning on making a trip down there this summer with the dog.

My wife and I have stayed in Old Mans Cave Chalets several times.  Very nice to say the least , and affordable.  Just make sure to ask for the one that is not haunted....at least that's the advice they give.

They are nice, I grew up a few miles from some of their cabins.

I always got a kick out of people visiting the Hocking Hills. Growing up I never understood how lucky I was to already live in a "vacation destination".

Unfortunately I couldn't tell you much about renting anything, unless you want to park your camper on my parents front yard.

Oh, and bring good shoes, I can't stand "city people" that show up to hike in flip flops!

I spent a fair bit of my late teens and early twenties in and around Hocking Hills.  If you get tired of cooking out, you'll have to drive to Logan or Athens, unless you head back towards Lancaster for dinner.  We may head downthere ourselves this summer.

My wife, daughter and I went there the first Saturday in March and stayed in a state park cabin. I think the campground is nearby. Carbins have been newly renovated and are very nice. I know there are private campgrounds nearby but do not have any names.

Thats funny you say tat about flip flops.  I feel the same way.  If your going hiking...then go hiking.  It isnt the beach.  Those peple are the same ones that walk about a 100 yards and want to go back to the car.  You are lucky to grow up around Hocking Hills.  I've discussed with my wife the possibility of buying land when or if there is ever a good deal and retiring there.  It's a beautiful place.

I love it there, very much worth the trip. As others have said, to see everything requires a bit of hiking.

Burr Oak State Park has nice cabins and facilities for campers as well. It's about a 30-40 minute drive to Hocking Hills. Hocking Hills State Park has the same.
