I'm sorry to hear that, Merlin. My sincerest condolences.
Looking at my work schedule, perhaps someone else had better take the lead on planning this. I think going up to see Merlin is a great idea. Maybe we can roll two into one? |

Hi all, a couple of thoughts and questions for the hometown gathering, please tell me what you think.
Just so we are clear - I'm not trying to be Mr. Rules as that is the last thing we need, but some things need organization on the front end. 1) How does everyone feel about early fall for the day? This way it'll be a little cooler and we won't roast on the range. I'm thinking mid to late September? 2) Also, the last time we did this we ordered food and 1/2 of the promised roster showed, leaving us with an excess of food that ended up getting thrown out & I ended up paying for the $$$ difference on the food. I'd like to not repeat that problem. So, I'd like to put forth the question for the potential attendees: Are you comfortable with a food registration list? It'll be a straight up order from a local BBQ chain. So the simple math of it will be # of attendees on the list / the amount of the bill plus tip. Don't sign up if you aren't going to be there. The easy way to solve this is: we may just roll the cost of food into the range fee. That way if you show up, food cost is included. Easy peasy. The other option is that we don't order food at all. Everyone can brown bag it. 3) The cost of the range is usually just a straight up transaction between individuals and the range owner. 4) We like to make sure that Notso gets paid for the ammunition + professionalism that he brings. Beltfeds are expensive to maintain, and ammo isn't cheap. He's an extremely generous & kind person, and I don't want him walking out of there getting the short of it. Please make sure to take care of him monetarily, so that he can pay his gas and ammunition costs. If you don't want to shoot the class 3 items, that's cool - it only applies if you shoot his stuff. 5) Lastly, if you attend you assume all risk and liability for yourself, and indemnify anyone who went to the effort to get people together for this casual gathering of friends. You attend at your own risk. |

IMO, given the location and not knowing who will actually show up.
Bring your own food. There are LOTS of food options in Calera. |

I’d offer up my place for this shoot.
60 acres unrestricted in Pike Road, AL. 600 yard Bermed range with Full size 50qnty IPSC AR500 steel plates Full pistol/ carbine training pit. Pic nic tables I only ask that those not following the 4 cardinal firearm safety rules, to voluntarily leave when confronted about it. In other words if you are a yahoo know it all, and think it’s ok to sweep someone with a firearm, because you’ve deemed it “unloaded”, don’t show up. |

I just PCS’d to Montgomery, I’m in for wherever (DTTG or other) as long as it’s on a weekend or federal holiday.

I have a kid due in late October, which is influencing my schedule somewhat. So a weekend in late November or December is better for me. You guys don’t need to lean on me so if this timing is inconvenient you should plan around me and if I can make it, I will.
Cheeks, are you sure about the range offer? I can promise you that we will clean the range area up before we leave and treat your property as we would our own. Lunch/snacks/drinks are self-serve so make sure to plan ahead. I’m going to sight in a few rifles, I’m really looking forward to this! |

To those with thermals…after dark I can heat the steel up with a torch and dial in your zeroes. I do it all the time. Just don’t shoot my steel with a rifle less than 100yds. Plus we can run low light drills. Here is some footage from my pistol/ carbine pit. I have gas pumps set up and barrels/ etc I got kicked off Facebook recently for posting my vids exposing the crime in Montgomery. I’m outside Pike Road, AL. Not sure if I’m going to come back to Facebook. Your mind is the weapon. Some of the shit I have set up: 100 yard capable pistol/ carbine pit level with gravel Gas pumps for real life scenario training Barrels for drills Approx 20 metal framed cardboard targets Class room with smokeless range simulation 600 yard range with steel. Berms at each 100 yd interval Shaded picnic tables 15 minutes to great Mexican restaurant and Publix grocery, dollar general etc Get me a weekend nailed down, and I’ll make everyone a deal with lodging in the team cabins. First come first serve. |

All good. I was just making sure the offer hadn't changed due to circumstances etc.
Facebook is full on commie, they definitely have built an echo chamber where they don't want opposing or realistic viewpoints. How does the weekend of November 23, or November 30 sound? Everyone - if you want something different please propose alternate dates. Thank you, |

What time would you like to kick it off? View Quote I’d like something useful to come if it. Something like this: Mini swap meet…tables set up off to the side with items labeled with owners contact info. Maybe an internet virtual listing page would suffice?items on site in vehicles. Meet and greet Introduction safety/speech Goof Bragg about your gun time. This is where goofs talk about all the cool gear they selected that makes up for their lack of PT and training. Need this cut to 30 min. We all know this can last days on end. Rifle zeroing. Verify zeroes out to 600 yards on steel. Lunch/ shit on each other’s gun and food choices. I can’t wait to see who here drinks Diet Coke. Demonstration and talk on how Glock9/ AR15 5.56mm combo is superior(this only takes about 87 seconds) 22 paper or Steel challenge Wheel barrow SHTF drill. This is where you strap on a Ruger 10/22 and a .38 and push a tactical wheel barrow filled with your kit, around the pistol pit and engage various targets. This is in honor of that thread that blew up 20 years ago. Can’t remember the username. But he was on here or assaultweb.net talking about his tactical SHTF wheel barrow. Night shoot. Heated steel plates out to 400 yards. Shoot with thermal topped rifles. Pistol pit for nods. Paper targets. No m855 or steel core ammo. Supper in Pike Road at Mexican place Sunday fun day. Structured open range day or drills. Obviously some of this in in jest. But I’d like for everyone to walk away with something constructive. Whether it be motivation to stop being a simp or ideas on how to set up their rifle based on a flaw they found on their current setup in a drill. Let’s learn something new and have fun doing it. |
