Well I am thinking I will not be staying at any Great Wolf Lodge anymore.

I don't know where the other thread went but here is info from our TX friend that I found in their HTF.

Quoted:
The Great Wolf Lodge will be hiring one new person for it's in house security team. The pay is above average (IM me for details), has a full benefits package after 90 days, and in general is a pretty good environment to work in. The position most likely will be deep nights (10pm-6am), or 2nd shift (2pm-10pm). This a Level II position, so unarmed, but you do not need to have the certification at time of hire.

The GWL will also be hiring someone in it's human resource department, probably a junior position.

That doesn't say anything about being pro or anti gun. It just say's it's hiring an unarmed security guard, which isn't unusual.
If you are afraid for your safety because the security guard is unarmed, then keep your own gun at your bedside.

Sorry, I should have gave more background. The post I quoted is from a guy who started a thread in our HTF asking about what was needed to prevent CCW in a WI place of business. He told us he was doing research for his job at a hotel.
He was basically using us to create gun control in our state. A few of us repeapeadly asking what hotel chain he worked for and he said it was against his policy to tell us. He just wanted to know what kind of signs they needed to post to prevent people staying at their hotel chain from carrying.
The post above shows the chain he works for and that he told us he was not aloud to talk about. I would link to the thread but it disappeared.

Though as was mentioned, it may not be possible for them to prevent CCW of their patrons staying at their hotel, since technically they are temporarily renting/leasing their room, and the way the state law is worded, they cannot be stopped from CCW'ing.

lol My wife works for Aurora. Aurora actually allows it's employees to use social networking sites. They actually let them use Facebook and such while on the job. I'm not really sure how that works but they get to.

So has anybody been in contact with this guy?
Did he get the info he needed to start preventing us from carrying or do hotels not have a say in that?

Honestly I don't see how anyone could bar you from staying in a hotel with firearms.  MN has CCW and a posted sign BAN GUNS policy and I carry my AR15 in the case or multiple black guns in the case, right to the front desk to check in when I am traveling / hunting.

If they do not say anything with a short black case with five or six mag pouches slung over someone's shoulder, I highly think they would notice a small .380 tucked into someone's inside the pants holster.

Everyone here knows it'll be trivially easy to flout posted no-CCW signage. Even the Legislature made violation of a posted sign a simple state civil forfeiture, it's not even a misdemeanor as a huge wink-n-nod to 'concealed means concealed'.

However, that's not the point.

You mean the one in Grapevine TX just off Bass Pro Drive?  I don't imagine they will get too worked up about guns down there.  None of the hotels I used in the area ever did and I spent a lot of time in that town one year.  They were buidling that hotel when I was down there, non issue for me but that BP shop may be the largest in the country and worth a visit.

Nope, I mean the ones in WI. The guy I quoted works in TX for the greatwolf.

as a Texan,,who did Live in KENOSHA FOR A TIME, and as a Hospitality person for 40 years..from Dish washer to VP of Food and Beverage..

let me say this..
when you rent a hotel room, it is your abode, your house for the time you agree to when you check in.
Management can NOT refuse you the right to have a weapon in your room (your abode)UNLESS the State does. IE New York state.

the hotel CAN restrict you're carrying in a public area with the proper signage, in Texas it is a 30.06 sign, of which a few hundred phone calls seem to make disappear most of the time..

beyond that the GM or the Company can not interfer with what you do in their hotel
this is why there are no longer Hotel Detectives(security) as there once were a very long time ago, as Hoteliers tried to control a criminal element, AND Moral issues as well. IE Guy baning his "Neice".on a regular basis,,while his wife is two floors down having dinner..

Checked them out on wikipedia. Nat'l HQs is in Madison, WI. They've got ONE hotel in WI... in the Dells. They also own Noah's Ark waterparks. Rooms start at $170 per night (Dells location). That alone will keep me away, regardless of their cc policies.

I think that is exactly what he wants. Although I have not seen the original thread, I can't help but wonder if this guy actually works for Great Wolf. Sounds like he may work for a competing hotel and is just trying to stir up shit or slander Great Wolf. Or maybe he's a disgruntled or former employee seeking revenge. Think about it, he comes into a HTF on a gun website, posts employment opportunities in an attempt to lend credibility to who he is, and then turns around and starts asking questions about signage requirements to prohibit CCW. This sounds like it would be the responsibility of someone in senior management or a higher level employee. And if that is so, I think that they would consult with the Wisconsin Hotel & Lodging Association or some other business organization for guidance before jumping into WIHTF asking questions. Do you really think someone with this responsibility would pull this secret squirrel "against his policy to tell us" and then say who he works for?
I sure would hope that Great Lodge would be given the opportunity to announce their policy before people start jumping on the boycott bandwagon. Until Great Wolf states their policy, I'm going to call B.S. on this one.
And no, I do not work for nor am I associated with Great Wolf or any other business even remotely related to the hospitality industry.

My money's on this.

I was at Great Wolf Resort with the family a couple weeks ago and they have a big sign next to the front doors at the main entrance already that states firearms are prohibited on the property.  Looked like it had been there for a while.  I was going to take a picture of it but forgot. Don't think there were any at the other entrances   RnR

I can't restore the thread,  but I did make a copy.

ETA: I have edited the content of the OOP by the request of the OP OP's author.
I have to do some surfing around other HT forums to see how this issue of business and CCW is being handled...

I've had my posts disappear on other forums, not much on arfcom, unless there is a Code of Conduct violation or something,  think it sucks. Still, as a matter of 'forensics' and my peace of mind, (if five ten years form now  some yahoo wants to say I said something ...), I decided it pays to track and record internet postings for my self.

I stand corrected. Based on rocknrick's post, it looks like Great Wolf Resort has already made their policy known by displaying a big sign at their front door. Boycott away should you so desire. Not having read the original thread, and already knowing Great Wolf's policy, I suppose the OP was asking what additional signage would be needed to be in compliance with Wisconsin State Law (which it appears that they can't ban anyway). Is this correct?

Curious as to the reasoning. i thought that was only in extremely rare circumstances. i.e. not something used when you are trying to help your company's anti-gun policy, and get called out on it.
