Yes, you can build and use an AR pistol without any sort of stamp or special permission. Visit the pistol forum here for ideas and all of the expert  opinions on what's legal and what isn't. To my knowledge, there aren't any specific regulations on these in Illinois other than possibly magazine capacity.

| Question. Since there is a no go with trusts in Illinois, how do I do a sbr with my Wife and Myself? Both of us will be shooting it and she goes to the range and would like to take it without me. |

You could set up a corporation. Corporations can hold C&R licenses and you AND your wife could be part of the corporation giving her joint control of the NFA stuff. There are annual registration fees to maintain the corporation in Illinois, but this would be the way to have 2 people having control without a trust. |
