Increasing the political influence of the more rural counties in Oregon?
This would necessarily come at the cost of reducing the more urbanized counties overall political influence.
Not eliminating it or replacing it. Just turn down their volume a couple notches.
As much as I dislike the Portland area, it's where I make my living. Increasingly, it's encroaching where i actually live. Slowly for now, but it's picking up the pace. The state only doesn't work because Portland decides everything for everyone else. I don't give a flying fuck if they want to have bums sleeping on their porches and pathways or not. i don't want them on mine, and I don't want to pay for their dumb ideas.
The metro area always reminds me of this
I think most of them mean well, they're just too dumb for my own good. Still though, decent money to be made there.
I don't want to leave Oregon. It's my home. I grew up here an I've raised my own family here. I know several neat little nooks and crannies around the State that I like to return to. I just want to be able to tell Portland "no".
I think an equitable method would be to change the structure of the State Senate. Just have each county send 2 senators. I can't think of anything off the top of my head bad about the idea. But, is it possible?
