...to shoot two coyotes in my apartment complex? We have some undeveloped land right acrss the street from my apartment complex. I've seen coyotes running between the complex and this land from time to time. Tonight, I saw two. One was larger and one was smaller so I took it to be a male and a female. This tells me that there will probably be pups in a few months. What's worse, is that one of my neighbors told me that there is a guy who lives in the complex that feeds them. They come right up to his door at night and he leaves dog food and scraps out for them. There are alot of cats in my complex, a lot of people will small dogs and a lot of people with small kids. Coyotes are destructive little bastards and I'd like to put an end to these two before they start making more. I had a perfect shot at one tonight while I was out walking my dog. It was no more than 20 yards away, with no buildings, cars or roads in the back ground. It just stood there looking at me walking my dog. I stopped and watched it for more than enough time to put a mag in it and the damn thing didn't budge. I didn't want to just start popping off caps without having some idea of how much trouble I'd get into though.

| Do they howl when the sun goes down? They usually move around quite a bit. When the food supply in an area is gone so are they. I got a bunch living out in the woods behind my place. I love to listen to them. My dogs talk to them. They will take care of your cat problem. |

Texas Penal Code; Text §42.01. Disorderly conduct. (a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly: (7) discharges a firearm in a public place other than a public road or a sport shooting range, as defined by Section 250.001, Local Government Code; §42.12. Discharge of firearm in certain municipalities. (a) A person commits an offense if the person recklessly discharges a firearm inside the corporate limits of a municipality having a population of 100,000 or more. (b) An offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor. |
Next question is How long am I willing to be in jail? Or perhaps, What will my prison name be? |
same hear, i love to listen to the pack when they start howling or when one starts calling the others , it sounds pretty cool. My GSD starts barking back or howling with the yotes, my little dog runs and hides. when it all starts. |

had a pack behind my house really start talking early one morning. nothing new or out of the ordinary, except they were REALLY talking and DIRECTLY behind my house. my wife in a half awake state said "I swear they killed something. they're doing the death howl" so I giggled for 20 minutes and went back to sleep. dont worry about them, but I would say something to management about the guy feeding them, as that's just a pain in the ass and draws more issues (other stray animals and possible animal fights) |

Use a crossbow. You can be accurate out to 60+ yards with practice and a whole lot quieter. Yotes are a blast to hunt. We shoot them with .50 cals. in E. TX. We've even lured them in with a rabbit decoy with a Tannerite bottle inside. If it doesn't kill them, they stagger away like they have 20 shots of Jack Daniels in them. |
Since it's a Class A misdameanor it would be less than 1 year in jail. At least it's not a felony. |

Coyotes: carry rabies, mange, fleas, ticks, etc. They are predators. They will attack any small animal including other dogs. I have seen the damage they do to calfs. They will attack the calf before it hits the ground from birth . They will eat fawns also. When the food supply runs out, They have also attacked small children. But.......I do like to hear them howl! |
or Deadly Conduct, Class A or Violate City Ordinance - discharging firearm in city limits (fine varies according to ordinance) if you hit someone, possible Aggravated Assault, 2nd degree felony, 2 to 20 destroy property, Criminal Mischief, offense depends on amount of damage to property maybe even DOC-firearm, some one sees you with it and say gun was carried in a maner calculated to alarm genereally not a good idea, but when is fun ever legal? |
