When you order a pistol or rifle from a LGS, how long did you wait ? I ordered a revolver a month ago and am still waiting patiently, kind of
|
I don't have the patience to order anything. Andrapos and I ordered Sub2000's at the same time, and I about drove the guys at JoJo's up a wall to get me my $280 rifle. Thats the only time I ordered anything. The NFA wait turns me into Woody Allen. It's horrible. They did their absolute best to handle my neurotic, hand-wringing behavior to their credit, and my loyalty in return.
I try not to get hung up on a particular variant or finish, and cruise the local gun stores and the EE to see what is on the market and see if anything fits the bill. If I am looking for something specific and the local shops don't have what I am looking for, I'll go right to gunbroker despite the pricing premium depending on my risk aversion. Time = money, life is short and all that...... I don't buy guns that require altering my finances to acquire, so it's not a big deal if something is a letdown. I move on quick and find something else. Big waits usually mean big letdowns. The sole exception to that is anything NFA. NFA = WORTH THE WAIT What did you order? Please say a S&W 625JM because thats what I want. |

Two years ago I ordered a Kimber Stainless 5" .45 Raptor from a gunstore in Wolcott but after a year went by I cancelled. Was not their fault...they are a master dealer but Kimber was telling everyone 6-8 months.
They are nice guys there and the owner gave me a break on a Kimber Warrior he had which was brand new from 2006. Nice Series I. |

I worked there part time till 08 and things I saw the owner do for people kept my list of gun shops I goto very short. They are at the top of my list. |

Family member has been waiting 1 1/2 - 2 years for Springfield Armory EMP. Are those hard to come by or something? It seems I often hear people mentioning long waits for fairly common guns. Like they think the dealer is sitting on their computer calling up distributors between customers for 11 months trying to find a gun for someone, when they really are not. Maybe it's just me. |

Yeah...the owner...believe his name was Mike felt bad I guess and knocked 100.00 bucks off the price. The gun I was waiting on was actually a stainless Kimber TLE/RL. The Raptor I was waiting on from Hyatt Guns. I also cancelled that order after a year waiting. I am happier with the Warrior and its a series I which I really like. |

Once I ordered 30 magazines in December of 2012. Approx $10 each. Free ship.
Didn't ship until May of 2013. I disposed of those mags properly in compliance with the new law. Went to a buy back program and got paid $20 each for the illegal magazines. Immediately went to a LGS and bought a firearm.

From what he told me yeah they are hard to come by. And I keep telling him to go get his deposit back from the dealer, they probably called around once or twice and then forgot about it. |

| If you want something done right you have to do it yourself. Its been very rare that I have experienced even mediocre customer service or confident competency at a LGS. Apparently surfing ARFcom makes me a pompous super genius with hyper buisness skills. If I want something, like ammo that the LGS tells me is nonexistent, I google it or pull up gunbot.net and it will be on my doorstep in two days. Same thing with firearms and accessories. Shit a LGS told me he could get me the RARE Mosin M44 in just a couple of weeks for over 300$....no thanks. |
