I finally applied for my CCW permit at the local sheriff's department , however I was quite bothered by the fact it could take till the first part of Janurary before I get the license. It was my understanding that they normally could get me a license (as long as I had no background problems) in under a week...At least that seems to be the time frame I was told by people who had got their CCW in Franklin county (I'm in Pickaway). |

There is a tacked thread on this http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=8&f=12&t=271676 Mine took 4 weeks from Erie County. |

The permit time depends on the energy or sloth of the Sheriff's department and their workload. There's nothing in it for them to get these done in less time than the law allows (or even take longer as there are no penalties!). Add in Thanksgiving Week and this could take some time.
There's also no reason for them to delay it! Just depends on the workload, etc. The fact that you're "finally getting around to it" adds no impetus to their procedures. If you hadn't been dicking around all this time you'd have it already. –– Chuck |

The time varies greatly from one county to the next. It took my Father in Law about a month and a half in Pike County. I had mine the next day in Wayne County. Wayne is supposed to be one of the best - I always hear just 1 or 2 days. We're pretty good here in Stark as well - mine took 2 weeks as a new OH resident; others (not-new-residents) from my same CHL class had theirs in less than a week. |

Wanted to update and let everyone know I got it today. So , a total of 22 days for pickaway county. I coulda just gone to Franklin and got it in 2 days , oh well. Interestingly enough, it seems they've had TONS of applications & issues quite a few licenses. When I went in , they had to sort though a large box of about maybe 40 or so licenses waiting to be picked up. |
