Is there an up to date IL range list any where?
The HTF Links page is getting out of date (Howell is closed), the range thread is 6 years old.
Even the NRA site has ranges on there that have been closed for over 4 years.
And I just tried to send the NRA and update, but you have to use a form and fake the info, a real pain and not sure if it will even be updated.

It seems every where I look has some of the info but not all, I just found out about another club in Plainfield that has public matches, had never heard of them before.
Oak Park sportsmanclub-
http://www.opsc.ws/  ( I think I found them on this site, but the website was listed wrong)

So what is the best place people have found for IL range info?

Oak Sportsman's Club i a private club. They do hold matches that a re open to the public (USPSA,SASS,IDPA Multi-gun etc.), but you have to be a
member or a guest of a member to shoot there if it's not a match.

I use the ISRA and CMP lists to look for locations.  I haven't tried to verify which ones are valid, so I don't know how up-to-date they are.

In the Springfield area there are three private clubs that host some types of matches.  Because they are private clubs, they usually are hard to contact and at least one doesn't have a website.

The best source that I can think of is word-of-mouth.  What are you searching for?  Just a place to shoot, or a specific match?  Are you looking for a specific location?

The "Gun News" newspaper often lists ranges that are hosting classes or events, and is a pretty good resource.  They don't list all the clubs, though, just the ones that contact them with an event.

I'm looking for a decent up to date list that I can point other people to.
I am an NRA Instructor and would like to be able to find info on all available ranges so I can pass that info to others and also to take students to, not just know about the couple of local ranges.
I belong to a local private club, but need public ranges to take students and friends to.
It has just always bugged me that there never seems to be a good list of ranges or shops available.
If we could get more info out to the public, we could help more people become shooters, which can do nothing but help our cause.
If I only had a round of ammo for every time I've heard 'I'd like to try shooting, but I don't know where to go or how to start'.
Heck I was that way myself when I was younger.
I lived in Naperville for over a year until I found out about the trap range there.
That was when I borrowed a friends shotgun and started shooting.  Had a lot of fun, just wished I had found it earlier.
It also seems like there are a lot of new ranges opening up, just in a few hours of searching I am finding a lot more that I ever have before.
And when the NRA's site is years out of date (4-6 or more), it just sucks.
Plus I feel like we are going to have lots of new shooters joining up soon, we need to make it as easy and open for them as possible, or else we may lose them.

Matt the Ten mile creek range is still open, I was just there today.( it is a free public range)  both rifle and pistol.
I agree about the range listing, I know there were a few more around me but I dont know if they are still open or accepting members.

Any Idea when 10 mile range opened?

I moved from Marion (around 30 miles away) 6 years ago and had never heard of it.
Then again before I lived in Marion I lived outside of Carbondale/Murphysboro and could shoot on the property, so never looked for ranges much.
