| I am probably not the first to ask this but here goes. I was wondering if anyone belongs to ISRA Range and how are the facilities, distances, etc. I recieved a flyer and might check it out $120 a year isn't to pricey if it's worth it. Any help is appreciated, Thanks. |
I'm a member, and if it wasn't for me being there yesterday, you'd be almost right. Everyone there was older and shooting their M1 Garands. But I was sighting in my AR-15 and AR-10. Oh, and one guy had a Mauser. But the price was right for me. For the price of Aurora Sprotsman's Club, you can pay your ISRA dues ($20.) Range Dues($120) and penalty fees for the 2 work days ($40 a day). |
| went to ISRA range yesterday for their $10 per rifle 'sight in days'..they have several ranges...25/50, 75/100 and 300 each with covered counters/seats...except for ranges and porta potties, few other facilities available...$120/yr with $80 initiation fee for newbies...$25 membership in ISRA also required...each member must work 2 days per year or pay $60 upfront or $80 at year end if work is not performed...gravel/dirt access roads on site and perhaps 4WD during rainy seasons...with rains the last few days, i'll probably wait until spring to join or *fingers crossed* hope Rock opens soon and we have a mild winter |
| Put your name on the list now if you want to join. They'll send you a packet when renewals come up. Remember people, a lot of you think it's a bunch of old guys shooting there. That's means they can't shoot, or let alone see, forever. And they do help our cause. They were there when two village trustees tried to propose a Daley type gun ban in Woodridge. It shows they'll fight for us. |
| Join up,it's not just old geezers with M1's,and it's a good place to shoot,it's clean and well kept, and most of the guys into competition are useing AR's, just don't think you can show up and do rapid fire drills like at Buffalo Pit.Safety is first and last at our range. |
I hear they allow controlled rapid fire at the ISRA range. No bumpin though. |
| Well, not rapid fire as in shooting as fast as you like at a target, but rapid fire in competition, like on tuesday night when we hold a match. you have 70 seconds to fire two magazines one loaded with 2 rounds and the other with 8 rounds, magazine change is required, while aiming at your target which will be scored after the rapid fire string. I still think I shoot too fast and my score suffers from that, this is aimed controlled fire, not just blasting away. I don't mean to be anal or discourage anyone but we stress safety at the range,If you go there talk to a range safety officer and I'm sure one will show you around the range. ther are two pistol ranges, two 100 yard rifle ranges, and a 300 yard range we use for competition,as well as a bb gun range if you're into that. The shotgun range was taken down to make room for the new 100 yard rifle range, but soon a new one will take it's place. |

Friend of mine, Al from Alabama hangs out there. Really nice guy has dual citizenship with IL & AL. He's been pushing me to join the ISRA range. I already am a ISRA member just haven't joined the range yet. The rest of you Illinoisians need to join the ISRA, if you haven't already. They are the main group fighting for our gun owning rights here in IL. |
