We do have good food here. Any trip I take east, west, or north the food in general is less desirable. That does not mean there are not gems in lets say New Mexico or Ohio but for the most part there is not near the taste and quality of Texas food anywhere else.
Lets take for example Dayton Ohio you can find plenty of lets say slop chutes but everything taste the same, folk's find some spice and learn how to cook. People bitch about Houston but damn it is nice place to eat. Good restaurants everywhere. Hole in the walls with damn good food and good prices. Food is a passion from the top to the bottom. From the mom and pop to the top 5 star type restaurants everyone is cooking. I was at a little hole on the side of the road down near Matagorda one day and a yankee down to work in one of the plants started talking about how everyone down here knew how to cook and about our love of guns. Everyone in this little place either had a gun on them or one in the truck. I told him it was funny how none of those guns had killed anyone even though we let them out of the house everyday!!!! |
