Ok so the honey do's are done for the day so its Daddy time in the fun room. I figured since Ive fallen back in love with the Buckmark (brief affair with a Mark III) that its time for a detail clean. So I have her all apart and have scrubbed all the little nooks and crannies and decide to pay a little attention to the saftey that doesnt want to fully engage easily. Now I dont consider myself a gunsmith by any stretch, but a little tweak here and there Im usually good to go. I pop the little plate thingey (3.99 @ Brownells)  in the vice and give it a little tweak. SNAP. Damn it this is my favorite little toy and now shes out of comission until Parcel Post shows up. I hate it when I do stupid shit.

Thank you for letting me share.

I am a Flippin Retard. So I figured since my Buckmark is out of comission I might as well throw a coat of Cerama-coat on it. Heck since it was already stripped down, why not. I actually forgot to remove the little plastic mag tensioner thingey in the bottom of the frame. I now have a big blastic blob in the bottom of my wifes oven and another order to brownells. WTF? I am this stupid. This is why God created gunsmiths.

That's why when I bought my first files and stuff I bought some spare parts.

You will never break or lose anything you have a spare of, which is why I keep ample spares.  Murphy's law does have an inverse.  I do a lot of "buddy work" stuff, but am really picky about what I take in.  I do not like taking in grampa's heirloom stuff, for even a cleaning.  I don;t know anything about it, might break it, and definitely don't have spare parts when I do break it.  A friend of mine brought over an incredibly nice weatherby .22, beautiful wood, total perfect bluing and metal, but it wouldn't cycle. I told him if I had to work on it, he had to hang out.  I felt like a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.  Got all the gunk out of the guts, and even took apart the whole trigger group and found some rust gremlins in there, and got it back together.  No more of those things.  I prefer stuff that if you drop it on the bench, or it slips while leaning on a wall, that it's still all OK.

I have plenty of respect for real smiths.

BTW, I got remarried last year, so the oven is no longer for duracoat on weekends, and the glockwasher has been reassigned to dishes. Worth it though.

Stupid update. My luck is really sucking right now. Got home today to a couple of packages. 2 out of 4 bags from Brownells were mislabeled. Crap. I installed a new sight base so I could mount my HiViz rear sight. The old base has a different size roll pin and a different spring set up. Crap. I go to put the old base back together and put the stock sights back on and the elevation spring goes flying. Crap. 40 minutes of searching with a large magnet, Im screwed. Crap. Screw it Im having it dropped off at Books next week and it can be his problem.
