Seems like a case of State Police using their discretion but the DA wanting to be in the papers.

yup

its good to at least see the State Police not get in a uproar tizzy over something stupid though.

So they are saying that you need to be more than 500' from any building?, even if indoors?  If that is the case, I know a couple of indoor ranges that are closer than 500' to another building. Why is not anyone getting arrested for that?

From what i gather all you have to have is permission from the owners of the dwellings within 500 feet (not yards) of you.
