I'll bet in transit through BWIA this week. I arrive late Sunday night and leave Tuesday night for a short trip to the ME to send a bunch of guys home.

I'll be staying at the BWI Hilton, what is there to do in the area? Is it easy to catch a train to Arlington?

Use GoogleMaps and type in your starting location and ending location, then select Public Transit.  From BWI, you should be able to take the bus from BWI to the Greenbelt stop, then go into the Greenbelt Metro station.  From there you will take the Metro to the L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station to get on the Orange line towards the Virginia Square Metro Station.  It should be a 6 minute walk into Arlington VA from there (according to GoogleMaps).  Hope this helps!

You got to it before my edit took effect.  Sorry about not having all of the info in the first post.  Welcome to MD (kinda early).  If you are in MD during the summer, find a place to get some MD blue crabs.

If you head south to Arlington, there is plenty to do in the DC area. Obviously there's all the museums and whatnot. My recommendations would be the Spy museum and the NRA museum. (The NRA isn't actually in DC, so not sure how easy it is to get to via public transport.) Also lots of places to eat and drink in the area of the capitol. Just don't venture out of the downtown area.

If you want to go north to Baltimore, take the light rail from the airport up to Camden Yards. From there you'll be a couple blocks from the inner harbor. Plenty of food, shopping, and other attractions. You'll also be a short walk further from Federal Hill if you're looking for a place to drink/ night life. If you want to walk even further Fells Point has the best bars. Again, same as DC, don't wander out of the downtown area. And even in downtown, keep your head on a swivel after dark.

Udvar-Hazy Center at IAD. Don't know which crackhouse on wheels gets there, but worth a visit.

You're crazy

If you're at the BWI Hilton take the curtesy shuttle to the BWI Train station.  From there you can take a MARC train (Amtrack will cost more - but they are available too).

Into DC (much nicer than taking the bus to Greenbelt station) to Union Station  then swtich to Metro.

Or get off the train in New Carrolton - get on the Metro (orange line) get off in Rosylnn and swith to the blue line, the first stop is Arlington.

Too late. I'm packing up and heading out in a couple hours. I hate long flights but at least this is the last of em for now.
