Looking for a hotel that is within reasonable walking distance to the convention center

Would prefer to stay as inexpensive as possible, but also prefer that it be reasonably nice.  Would be nice if the hooker to guest ration was less than 1:1

Any reccomendations?

If you're looking for downtown and reasonably nice Embassy Suites is one of the less expensive downtown hotels.  It's still going to run about $175 to $200 per night.  Hampton Inn is within walking distance as well but is still about $150 per night.  Crowne Plaza is a little more than the Hampton.

I suggest you use priceline.com and bid for the highest rated hotels located in downtown, that is the best way to get a good deal unless there is some big convention in town at the same time.  Most nice hotels are within walking distance of the convention center.

I'd go with the Hampton Inn!
They have the best beds across America!!!
Hot breakfast too!

If you haven't been to Indy recently, or at all, you will be pleasantly surprised.  The part of town that the CC is in is very nice.

If it is not with in a few blocks of the convention center be careful.  If you can not find one that close, stay outside I-485.  If you go south of the city there are some nice hotels in the $50 range around Greenwood or Southport.  But then you will have to pay to park downtown.  Southport is only a 10 minute drive. Plenty of places to eat at those exits as well.

+1 on the Hampton.

My wife and I stayed there a couple years ago and the thermostat was broken so they bumped us up to a suite for our trouble.  I've also stayed at the Marriott Courtyard off of New York St.  but it's a bit of a hike to the Convention Center.  Avoid the Days Inn on New Jersey.  It's a first class dump.

Make sure you tell us when that happens.  That way all of us dorks who dress up like Star Trek characters can make fun of those Star Wars SUPER dorks.

There you go, and you cant get much closer to the convention center.  I use priceline alot if I just need to stay in a general area and not in a specific hotel.  You saved enough money you can buy the first round.

Downtown Days Inn. Fairly nice and you could walk to the convention center in about 5 minutes. About 55 to 65 bucks a night(usually).
