The catch on the ejection port cover popped out.
I have NEVER seen that before; I suppose it has happened to someone, but in 24 years around M16s and AR15s, I've never seen it.
I wonder a bit if it has to do with a lesser quality cover as it is one of them engraved ones with a Gadsden flag on the inside of it.
I suppose they probably buy the cheapest they can get, I probably would.
Now I have to figure out if I can fix it.
It looks to be staked in but need to get a closer look at it and see if I can restake it without destroying it.

Weld that bitch shut. You have much more practice with a 1865 Springfield anyways.

I have never handled a 1865; I did BMM* with the 1795 Springfield.
