Okay you computer savvy types......installed Windows 7 today but then discovered that Mcafee is not compatable which sucks as it was free through my ISP LOL so now I have no protection except the built in Windows Defender.

What do you all use for security/virus protection?
One with an add blocker would be good LOL

Proventia Desktop, soon migrating to Proventia ESC.  I manage it myself.

Amazon has Norton Internet Security 2009 on sale for $29.99, today only.

Yeah I know, Norton has a bad reputation for slowing computers down, much of it well deserved, but the 2009 version has some dramatic improvements over prior versions.

ETA:  Not sure how compatible it would be with Windows 7 though.

Go with Avast (it's free and secure).....believe me when I say STAY AWAY FROM NORTON AV....it's one of the most hacked anti-viruses out there.

If you really want to go with a hardened anti-virus and you have the money, go with Trend-Micro.

+1 on Avast!, been using it on all my computers for several years. Free for home use, new virus file every day or so and program updates every month or so.

The first line of defense is to be running behind a router. Never connect a windows box directly to the internet.

Use Firefox with AdBlock Plus and FlashBlock and you will be much happier (and less distracted!)

I use AVG on the families WinXP systems. I don't know if it is compatible with Win7 or not.

Myt web browsing computer only has the router. No antivirus.

But then, it gets reloaded pretty routinely and the cool software is on other computers.
