Howdy everyone! Michigan City IN is fairly close to MI so I thought I would extend the opportunity. I've known Jeremy for about 4 years now, and he's been shooting competitions for over a decade. He definitely knows what he's talking about. One of the main problems with IDPA is that no one has the time to teach you everything about IDPA when you show up at a match. My first match I had no clue about the match or safety rules. I was safe, but my score was raped with rule infractions, I wish I had gone to a class like this before my first match.
On Saturday, March 19, 2011; Michigan City Rifle Club will again hold it's annual Introduction to IDPA class at the club's indoor range. Cost for the class will be $10, payable at the start of the class. Class will start at 9am Central Time SHARP! Please be 15 minutes early to sign in and get comfortable. Class will end at the completion of the match portion, so there is no set time to be finished. The classroom portion will last about four hours, and there will be a 30 minute break for lunch (last time someone ran out for a few pizza's and pop). The classroom is a COLD RANGE! DO NOT bring loaded firearms into the classroom. The match portion of the class will be four very basic Courses of Fire that illustrate some of the commonly encountered activities and terminology encountered at IDPA matches. Bring 100 rounds, you will fire less than 50. You will also need a centerfire handgun 9mm or .38 Special or larger, a strong side belt holster, and at least three magazines or speed loaders. We will inspect equipment in the class to allow students to see why or why not it is considered to be "legal" or "suitable" competition equipment.
