The video is in the process of being edited n so forth. We put the video onto my computer then made an VCD of it and I sent Dan home with that. He said he'd do some editing n stuff to it. I, on the other hand, won't need to do any editing to my copy of it....as I have the Official Unedited version here....hahahaha. Needless to say, there will be some editing done and when its all done I'm sure Dan will let ya'll know and be gettin addresses n such. But until then, be patient and they'll be ready to ship out before you know it. And for everyones listening pleasures...... I talked ALOT less than what I did last year!! ![]() |

Rat made the copy and I'll try to make it "short and sweet" with lots of shooting. I'll have to edit my profanity - I used an expletive after watching Jim and Andrew do some 'cranking" with the 1919 in the dark. It's certainly impressive!!! We had two batteries that should have lasted two hours. Instead they only lasted about 30 minutes each. Rat did a MUCH better job than I did doing the filming. It'll be apparent when I edit the video. I"ll try to get it done and in the mail to JTAC ASAP. When I finish, I'll make some more copies and have them packaged ready to send out to those who want them. I'll put up a thread and you guys can IM your address! |

Rat, I can't get the disc to run. Either on the PC or on the TV DVD player. It's the VCD program or something. FWIW, I'm going to try to shorten video to nothing but continual shooting and edit out the BS me and Rat put in Gunslingerdoc, we've got quite a few good videos of Pat, Sister, and Shelly shooting the different guns. Pat more than anyone! They're pretty good clips too! |
We'll damn sure get you a copy! I've got the disc playing now but the attributes are set as a DAT file. I've got to change it over to an AVI file so I can edit it. Been a long time since I screwed with manipulating programs, files, etc. I'll get it there, promise! |
this was with open sights at the two side by side way in the hell down there, if those were a hundred yards, then hell I'm a better shot than I led ya'll to believe. |
Patrick, Ndenway was seeing things that day!!! ![]() Except when he was shooting my M1A. He seemed to be hitting a lot of targets through those sights!
|
Dan, you old hag! If I need to I can do the editing/ copying, etc....hahahahaha...this won't be the 1st time I've done it!! Doc...not a problem with new shooters...teachem right from the get go n encourage them any way possible.....thats a great thing. And she seemed like she'd shoot about anything handed to her!! She's a good girl....now if I could only find me a nice chic like that.

Rat, I've got it running on the PC but won't on the TV DVD player. The file attributes are down as a DAT file and needs to be AVI or MPEG to edit. I think we can cut it down to something like 30 minutes of nothing but shooting. Which I think everyone would enjoy instead of my commentary and your comments about me!

I remember the DVD I got last year needed a special player to play on my computer, I had to find the player before I could view it, but I've slept since then and can't remember the specifics! Found it! MPEG2 This one plays it: www.divx-digest.com/software/media_player_classic.html |

Gents, I didn't make it to the outing, but I'll be glad to offer my services to encode the video to either a copyable DVD, VCD or smaller DiVX file. I've been in the computer business all my professional life and have a real love for encoding (along with the gear to do it). Anyway I just thought I'd try to give something back to the forum and especially to my fellow Oklahomas. BTW, I'm in Tulsa so just IM or email me if you'd like help. I should be able to knock it out in an evening or two depending upon my work schedule. If you want I can setup an FTP server here so you can upload the MPEG2 or AVI. Yust let me know if I can help. |

Schwaze, here's the problem. There is a lot of unnecessary BS on the video and I would like to edit to just pure shooting. Rat told me not to make too many comments and I did. Takes away from the video and adds nothing!!!!! The videos are set up in a DAT file and my Movie Maker program will not recognize it, even though I open it with Windows Media Player. ( I had to make the association.) I need to change the file attributes to AVI or MPEG or something that the Movie Maker will support so I can edit it. I'd like to make it solid shooting, no BS or joking around. Any ideas on how to change the video files to AVI? |

OK, I'll assume that since you're saying the video is a .DAT file that it is MPEG1 encoded for VCD (somewhat on par with regular VHS quality-wise). If that's the case then you'll simply need to change the extension from .DAT to .MPG and XP's Movie maker should be able to read it just fine and allow you to edit/save as usual. To corroborate this, I've copied this excerpt from a PapaJohn's Help thread found here. [Plagiarized Text]• VCDs - these use MPEG-1 files that you can import directly into Movie Maker. Copy the DAT file(s) from the MPEGAV folder on the disc to your hard drive, rename them from a DAT extension to MPG, and import them into Movie Maker.[/Plagiarized Text] If this is the case, I'm interested in how it became encoded as a .DAT since that is not very common format in camcorders. Is this a DV or MiniDV DAT tape? If so you can use a IEEE-1394 or FireWire card to copy the source directly to you harddisk in an uncompressed AVI format. It'll take quite a bit of space since an uncompressed 10 minute AVI can be over 1 Gigabyte in size. That's why it's probably best to have a hardware encoder card (like my Hauppauge) that can encode to MPEG1 or 2 in hardware "on the fly" in realtime. Of course, to do that I'd need the original tape. Anyway I hope this information makes sense. I'll be glad to help where I can. |
|
Sister, I've done that. It goes from *.dat to *.mpeg.dat!!!!! The only thing I can think is because of Norton System Works - either the antivirus or firewall! Damned if I know! ![]() Think I found it! Open Control Panel, Folder Options, View, then uncheck Hide File extensions! I renamed the files, now I'll see if I can edit the clips! |

Got the video done! It looks like it will be around 30 minutes or so. I cut out a lot of unnecessary BS that Rat and I had thrown in. I hope we got everybody in the video. I'm going to get Patrick to look at it and make criticisms/suggestions then modify it accordiingly. Last part of the video in Jason Witt knocking the breath out of the steel plated at 325 yds! I thought it appropriate to end the tape with some great shooting with iron sights out of a great rifle (my M1A of course! Finished product should be ready to mail out in a few days. (I was going to Tampa this weekend be we canceled due to someone's aching knees! ) So I'll be working on it this weekend. |
Not by a long shot! I cut out a lot, left in some "transtions" that aren't so good. Cut out most of the BS I was commenting on. Lots of auto fire on the 15 yd line, the gals shooting the AK pistol and select fire, plus a lot of different rifle fire, the Tannerite being blown up, the target being dinged, different people in different positions shooting. Rat did a much better job than I would have filming! I guess he'll have to get credit for all the good footage! Just tried posting a list and it looks like I'm blocked from starting a thread. Hope you guys read this. Email from AR15.com. That way I can put your email and address in a file on Outlook. Jason, Jim, and Andrew should get them first as they went to so much effort for our enjoyment and did one hell of a job!!!! I'll mail them out pretty quick once the list gets started. If you're in NOKC, IM me and I'll give you my cell number so we can hook up and I'll give you a copy. They are on a CD in an mpeg file and can be played with Windows Media Player. Dan |
I'll cut that clip out of the original and email it to you! Email me via AR15.com again and I'll send you that clip. Put in your address and I'll send you a disc too! Edited to add: Aw, hell! It slipped my mind - your talking about the "JP introduction"! ![]() I deleted all the intros when I asked people for their names. I do have one where you and Patrick and Sister intro'ed yourselves! That was the clip I can email you if you want it! |
|
OK, I've got some packaged and ready to mail tomorrow. JTAC, Scottstre, and Bandit68 are the only ones that have requested the videos. I've got a few more copies and anyone that was there that wants one is welcome to them. And I can make more for anybody that was there. Dan |
You've had one for several weeks! Don't worry - we've got some GOOD footage of you on the video. You're the first one up! |

) So I'll be working on it this weekend.
