It is expected sometime today that the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce to endorse Joe Manchin. Whatever the event is that John Raese has planned for 4:00 pm needs to be huge.

As soon as I get information in regards to this event I will post it here. Stay tuned.

***John Raese is meeting with the WV Coal Association right now in Charleston. That might be what the "big" announcement he plans on making....that he is going to be endorsed by them.

I just got off the phone with Liz Raese (John's wife) and she said she cannot release the information as to who is going to be there at 4:00pm, but she did say that John is going to be endorsed by a national tea party represenative.

I can't make it over that at 4pm, but a friend of mine is working in Charleston today and is sticking around just for this event. I will post more information as it becomes available.

The Raese's are good people. I was there when they gave up their tickets to the Marshall / WVU game to a kid that turned 18 that day & he wanted to go to the game and the game had been sold out for a loooong time. They found out that it was his birthday & he wanted to go, so Liz went & got their tickets & handed them to him. This wasn't done in front of a crowd for publicity or anything, they're just good people.

It was just an endorsement from Freedomworks, nothing big. Only about 40 or so people showed up. There was talks about getting Michael Reagan to show up for a fundraiser in Huntington this thursday but last I heard this is not happening. If Raese wants to win, he needs to get national coverage and bring in a big name person to support him.

Old news, this was brought up in 2006 and 2008. Sounds like another union hit piece that will not effect Mr. Raese at all.

Manchin is a good guy in the state, you can't argue that. But what you can argue is whether he'd be good for W.V. in D.C.

My opinion is that he'd go there riding his popularity and just do whatever the mainstream Democrats tell him to.

Raese may not be perfect, i don't really even think he's a good guy, but he'll be a hell of a lot better than Manchin in D.C. for W.V.

He understand the needs of small business, because Greer used to be small, now it's rather large.

To manchin, it's about getting him and his brothers rich.   (richer)

Isn't MetroNews a Raese owned company??
Let's see...Big John ahead of MoJoe by 2 points, however the margin of error is +/- 4.5%....Hmmmm

jharp...You make a great point and I agree with you, but don't think Big John isn't about making himself and his family richer!
He has 2 daughters, a SUPER high maintenance wife and 2 step brothers to support!  Not to mention his brother's failing news paper that bleeds money.

Either way, the whole thing is a mess.  Now they have thrown a king coal endorsement into the mix.  Sheesh!

The mud slinging from both sides make for good amusement though.

I thought Raese’s “sauntering along in jeans on on High Street” commercial looked to be about as genuine as Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie’s kiss.

OK John,
Walk like John Wayne,
hands on hips for this part,
now gesture like you know your shit.
OK pull back for a long shot with your foot slightly elevated in an all business manner.
Holy shit we’re golden!
Are you following me, camera guy?

Cornyn spokesman joins Raese campaign
Tuesday, October 5, 2010
The Raese campaign has a new spokesman. Kevin McLaughlin is taking a leave from the press office of  Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.

McLaughlin previously worked on Cornyn’s 2008 re-election campaign, John McCain’s presidential campaign, and for the Republican National Committee.

Before McLaughlin’s arrival, Raese campaign manager Jim Dornan had been handling all media work.

Be careful of what you wish for!  Me I never voted a straight ticket in my life.  With all the Bullshit that has been flying from both sides, I may just put my hand over my eyes and start punching buttons!  There is a lot that appeals from both major parties, there is also a lot of turn off's, the Tea Party being one of them.  I am still inclined to not vote for anyone currently in office.  I really think we need to let these ass holes know who they work for.  All of these politicians need a real job, or need to get one again.  I don't want anyone giving my money to those who don't work and I don't want anyone trying to legislate my morality or lack of it.

There are alot of people here in Huntington that think that it would be wrong to drug test. It is all believed that the bill would require people to submit to drgu testing if you wish to file for unemployment benefits.

And there's something wrong with that how......?

You got fired from your last job because you were a stoner that didn't make it to work on time this year, or were too toasted to do it correctly when you actually made it to work...and you want $$$$ because of it?

Uh....no. That process used to work for the military...get busted on a pi$$ test, go find a job somewhere else... Do not pass go, do not collect $$$$, do not let the door hit yer ass on the way out.

If you've got enough money for drugs, you can afford to lose some income for a while.

Passing a drug test is also usually a condition of finding new employment.  Someone who fails a drug test obviously isn't interested in finding a new job, and thus, should not be receiving unemployment insurance benefits.  Kind of like someone who buys homeowner's insurance and then burns down their own house...

For the last 3 years how many nights a week does Mr. Raese, on average, sleep in WVa.? Does he know who the biggest employer is in the EPH? Does he know why?

These are 3 ?s I have for him.

I'm still undecided who to vote for. I will say that I believe it is time to fire almost all career politicians. I don't vote a party ticket.

Im not sure how many nights he spends on average in WV, but as a businessman with several companies in Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Florida one can assume that he spends time in everyone of those states.

Are you referring to Berkley County or the panhandle in general? If its the county, the I think that would be the school system. All of these questions can be answered by him personally. If you want his phone number, shoot me a PM and I can give it to you along with several other contact numbers for him if your interested. It seems the fire department might be in a little bit of trouble after posting a video of them endorsing Manchin while in uniform... Video

While the ad may be effective, it could also be illegal. The ad uses firefighters with the Charleston, Huntington and Dunbar fire departments. All three of these departments are paid departments, making them civil servants. West Virginia Code §8-15-24 prohibits paid firefighters from engaging in certain forms of political activities, including:

Use any official authority or influence, including, but not limited to, the wearing by a member of a paid fire department of his or her uniform, for the purpose of interfering with or affecting the nomination, election or defeat of any candidate or the passage or defeat of any ballot issue: Provided, That this subdivision shall not be construed to prohibit any member of a paid fire department from casting his or her vote at any election while wearing his or her uniform.

"According to those inside sources, Manchin will be the icing on the cake to their investigation into the ABCA Administration’s mishandling and unlawful abuse of rules and state-federal laws regarding the control-handling of alcohol. The federal investigation by the US Attorney just became public knowledge last week with subpoenas being issued to ABCA staff members.
....
As much as state officials and the feds will want to deny the direction this case is going to take, our inside person has admitted this investigation will be trouble for the governor. “Remember twenty years ago how the US Attorney vehemently denied they were after former Charleston Mayor Mike Roark up until the day of his indictment? The same thing is happening here…. you start at the bottom of the ladder and climb your way up.”
....
The only information being circulated at this point is from the state. The US Attorney, ATF, IRS and FBI aren’t saying anything (as they always do early on) except there have been subpoenas issued. Like in the Roark case, the federal government never discloses their true game plan until they’re ready. Whatever it is, you can bet they are well prepared before moving forward."

"Our source said if the governor is a target, it could be on a charge as simple as, "If Joe is drinking and providing untaxed booze to family & friends, or just knows about anyone receiving liquor out of the ABCA warehouse for free, he could be in real trouble." Then there is the legal term... “he knew, or should have known,” that, rules and laws were being violated could be enough to charge him. And, it will be hard to deny the inner workings of the ABCA since the commissioner reports to the governor."

"Bottom line,
....
“Sit back and watch,” said another long time statehouse worker. “People will deny Manchin is a target, and how he has done nothing wrong and is being falsely accused. Then those same people will act so shocked when it all comes out.”
.....
***On a side note, it is reported that Manchin rigged the bidding specs for the contract when he re-furnished the governors mansion so only one company could win. That furniture company, is in Bridgeport, WV. We are working on gettng the bid specs and publish them.***"

They're all corrupt in one way or another.
Vote them all out, bring in a new crop with them knowing that they work for us, and if they fuck it up, they'll be lucky to walk out with half of what they came in with.

I'm hoping that the current 'fuck'em, lets start fresh' mindset will be something we can continue through the years.  I'd prefer public humiliation/punishment/execution of officials found in dereliction of their duties, then run out of town on the rail or their head on a pike in the capitol city. That, boys and girls, will guarantee that they have our best interest in mind when padding their wallets with our money.

Just remember....your great grandchildrens great grandchildren will finish paying off ONLY the INTEREST of our current administrations financial squandering. The real money may will never be paid off. (default is the only option)

Vote, it's your only legal option right now.  Open season on politicians may come later, but not likely in the next few months.

Basically what I've seen in my 12 years here is that the rest of the state ignores us, except for our tax $$$. I want to know if Raese knows anything about this part of the state. I also want to know if he really knows and believes in WV or is he another Hilliary carpet bagger. I'll never understand how/why NY state voted her in.

Wouldn't it be a real mess if Manchin gets elected then gets hit with a federal indictment. Gets convicted or plea bargains out. Resigns and we have to have another election. What a cluster F.
