Ok, i am going to post this here even though i probably shouldn't.  My work is looking for an entry level helpdesk/desktop support person.  I wil be working with this person a lot (i am the network engineer).  Please do not IM if you truely do not meet the requirements. i don't mean to be an ahole about it but with the  job level a lot of people are going to apply (and quite a few are going to be no where near qualified).

Company Info:  MMC Corp is a holding company that owns 4 mechanical contractors and 2 general contractors.  We have offices in KC MO, OP KS, Omaha NE, TX, Las Vegas, and NJ.  We are a 100% ESOP.  The current IT department is 2 people and we support all services for about 400 users.

MMC Corp, a national commercial construction company based in Overland Park, Kansas is looking for an individual to provide support to end users on a variety of I.T. related issues including but not limited to the setup, repair, maintenance, and upgrade of PC/Laptop hardware and software. You will be required to Identify, research, and resolve technical problems and provide network support services as directed.
The IT Support Specialist represents the first point of contact with the IT department for prompt resolution of technical issues in a network of 350+ end users.  The position maintains workstations and laptops, identifies and recommends proactive solutions to minimize common technical problems, and follows procedures established by the Director of IT and Company SOP’s (standard operating procedures).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
Workstation Support
Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals.
Installs, configures and patches all PC and laptop software in accordance with validated systems procedures.
Create, update, and install system images.
Performs initial IQ/OQ (Installation Qualification/Operational Qualification) for all new PCs and laptops.
Identifies and resolves software related problems.
Installs and configures network-attached devices to include printers and multi-function devices.


Other Essential duties and responsibilities include:
•Provides 1st Tier technical support to end users on a variety of issues.
•Responds to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support including on-call response as needed.
•Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems.
•Tracks and monitors the problem to ensure a timely resolution.
•Maintains issue log to identify recurring problems.
•Implements file and printer shared resources.
•Monitors home-directory and e-mail box quotas and assists users in archiving and retrieving archived files.
•Supports and maintains user account information including rights, security and systems groups via Active Directory and Group Policy.
•Performs system, database, and file backup and recovery.  Execute backup audit and verification plan per SOP.
•Supports the Application Engineer and Network Engineer in all necessary administration of the network infrastructure.
•Works with the Application Engineer and Network Engineer to resolve Tier-2 issues in order to build understanding and prevent future need for escalation.

•TECHNOLOGIES, METHODOLOGIES, & PROCESSES
•Must be familiar with Windows 20XX Networks, Active Directory, Group Policy, create and maintain computer images, TCP/IP Protocol, 802.11 protocols and E-mail.
•Additional experience in the following is preferred but not mandatory: Cisco Call Manager Phone System, Cisco Unity Voicemail, Exchange 2010, Blackberry Enterprise Server, Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010, Webex Conferencing, Tandberg/Cisco Video Conferencing System, Microsoft SCCM, ACT! 2011
•Must possess the disposition and desire to learn new end-user software and systems to the degree required to support such systems
Education                
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college/university.

Experience
Two years or more of related work experience required.

Just to mock your company's job requirements I am way over qualified for this position with out meeting the educational requirements.



NoAccount, MSCE CCNA and a handful of otherwise useless CompTIA certs. I think I will stick with the nursing gig though.

ya i agree too but the problem is anymore you get way too many "well i have been fix'n my cousins computers out in the barn" type anymore if you don't

Yea, the way things are now, getting a job is an accomplishment.
