Seen a sniper deployed on the frontage road off the Benton curve on the way home. Hostage situation according to the news. First time I've ever seen the police snipers deployed. It was kinda hard to miss the guy laying in the dead grass wearing woodland field jacket, and black bdu's with a black bolt action. ![]() I actually seen his cruiser first, then him, then looked around to find the command vehicle. |

I was downtown many years ago, walking along a street doing something for work, when all of a sudden, 4 heavily armed swat dudes ran around the corner in front of me and ran down the street towards a bank. Turns out, bank robbery gone bad in progress. Kind of spooked me when I saw the news when I got home that night. Anyway, good spotting job there! Benton Curve...boy, that goes through a lovely part of town. Anyone want to take bets that it was 'gang and/or drug related'... |

The house is recognizable if you drive past it every day. Its the 2 story where the 2nd story is smaller than the 1st. It always has boarded up windows, and they tend to pile trash on the roof part of the 1st story. It's now in a rather open area as they tore the house next to it down recently. And if the 10-100yard police "sharpshooter" doesn't need to hide much, why does he wear a woodland m-65? |
Why not? I have worn my M-65 several times.... Don't mean I am trying to hide! On the other hand was it not fairly hot that day? Why would you wear a field jacket in that heat? |
Because he was probably called in off duty since SWAT/HRT guys are on call 24 hours a day. That may have been all he had in his car when responding to the staging area. He may have had the pants available or on at the time of the page, but upon arrival he may have seen that all he had to wear was what he went shooting or training in last time. Don't be so hard on the guy, how many of you are on call 24/7 for this kind of stuff? The bigger concern should be if anyone was hurt or if the bad guy was able to be taken into custody without any incidents. |
I've seen some pictures in the past where guys get called in on their day off...guys in their shorts with tactical gear over the top...looks funny but when the shit hits the fan... |

I remember here in Kansas City a few years back, there was a hostage situation at a local mcdonalds. I believe there were multiple sharpshooters deployed on various rooftops surrounding the building. I got to see news footage , and pics. But didn't get to see them in action with my own eyes. They had the whole area blocked off. I'm sure you guys discussed it. |
