| I am trying to decide if I want to sell my Kimber before I purchase a new one. I have a friend and a friend of a friend that are interested (I told people to let me know if they were ever interested and here I am with multiple buyers and not sure if I even want to sell). Legally what do I need to do if I sell. My biggest concern is that it is illegal to transfer a gun to certain individuals. While I am not worried about the two people that are currently interested, I can't be sure of what they will eventually do with it and I don't want it to come back on me. So, can I just fill out a bill of sale with the serial numbers and get a signature and date or is there something more extensive that must be done? Thanks for the help. I am going to post this in the legal forum as well but I figured that it couldn't hurt to put it here. |
| I will never do face to face since I don't trust a bill of sale to get me out of my gun possibly being involved in a crime. There was a guy that wanted to buy a gun off me in KS and I could have just sold it with a bill of sale but i told him I wanted to go through a FFL and it is just 20 bucks so he could pay for it, not going to break the bank. He was really against that idea and finally told me he was allowed to get a CCW but couldn't go through a FFL to buy a gun since years ago he put his hand over his wife's mouth and due to that he was not gtg to purchase unless privately. honestly all you really do is a bill of sale but can have a FFL run a BG check and transfer it that way. |
