I posted this in General Discussion but thought I would post here too.
I will be traveling to Central Kansas within the next couple of days.I have a Texas CHL and I wanted to know what the concealed carry laws were in Kansas. Can anyone tell me the basics of the laws? Conduct during traffic stops, where you can and cannot carry etc. If you can point me to a web site that I could read up on, that would be good too. My father and I are heading to Elsworth County Kansas within the next couple of days to see my uncle one last time. He is dieing and doesn't have much longer to live. Thanks guys. |

Thanks for the info guys!
I look forward to getting up to the wide open spaces of Kansas, I just wish it wasn't for the reason I am having to go. Ever herd of Geneseo Kansas? That's where I will be, Just north of there in Elsworth County. My uncle Farmed over 800 acres there, mainly wheat and cattle. 25 years ago about this time, I was working on his farm driving tractors around in big circles, bring up the rear on foot herding cattle and driving wheat to the elevator during harvest. At the time, I was bored doing it. My uncle taught me patients. I miss working the land now. what I wouldn't give to have one more summer out there working on his farm, going down into the canyon on his land and shooting snapping turtles in the pond, talking to my uncle about his 25 years in the Navy and sitting on the round bales playing my harmonica. My uncle taught me how to shoot, clean and take care of rifles, shotguns and handguns back then. I remember his lessons well and still follow his instructions with my own firearms now. He was just as particular about the condition of his weapons after I cleaned them as a Marine Drill instructor would be. He is a good man and a great uncle to have. I will miss him very much when he is gone. I think I will take my rifle and try to find time to take out a few snapping turtles while I am there. I know my uncle will appreciate that. I just wish he could be there with me picking them off too. |

Kansas Attorney General Moves to Recognize 'Non-Resident' Carry Permits Kansas Attorney General Steve Six today concluded that the State of Kansas will now recognize 'non-resident' right-to-carry permits issued by any of the 22 states already recognized. "NRA has maintained for years that language in the Kansas statute indicates that 'non-resident' right-to-carry permits should be recognized," said Chris W. Cox, NRA chief lobbyist. "This decision is a victory for gun owners as it expands right-to-carry laws and provides permit holders additional freedoms in Kansas to protect themselves and their families." At NRA's urging, Six re-evaluated the language and determined that the statute indeed supports 'non-resident' permit recognition. The training, safety and proficiency standards and process required by applicable states are equal to or greater than the standards imposed by Kansas, therefore, it is possible to extend recognition. States affected by this allowance include: Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, South Carolina and Texas. "Right-to-carry laws decrease crime and this measure will continue to provide law-abiding people options to protect themselves," concluded Cox. "On behalf of NRA members and gun owners throughout the country, we'd like to thank Kansas Attorney General Steve Six for his support of our Second Amendment freedoms." |
