I'm in Polk Co. next weekend in case anyone wishes to go kayaking down the Hiwassee. No worries if one doesn't have a boat as they're available for rent from an outfitter for $35 or so. Kayaking on the river is free as well.
For those who don't know, the Hiwassee is relatively mild as far as rapids go. Not much (if any) danger of getting hurt (or worse). Just enough to be fun & exciting when one goes over a rapid. There's also a pretty good gun shop close by as well, Benton Shooters Supply. Cuties run the register.
