Senators stayed in session well into Friday morning, not adjourning until after 4a.m. The biggest accomplishment of the late night meeting was a ban on text messaging while driving. The bill is a match of an Assembly bill. S it will go straight to the governor for his signature. Another report shows $85 million in "pork" spending or member items is being divided. The Democrats recieve the biggest cut of these funds since they, once again, hold the majority. Acting Senate President Malcom Smith recieves the largest amount to give out to civic groups, non-profit organizations and popular causes. He will get $5.5 million. |
