I will second that, a lot of restrictions that won't ever stop someone who wants to break the law from doing it.

On another note, I am not apposed to everyone taking a safety coarse similar to how it works for hunting.  That is a good idea and could eliminate a lot of bad press from accidents.  I am also not apposed to doing away from face to face sales as I think this ends up with some seedy transactions...

Waiting for the resulting storm...

My only objection to eliminating fact-to-face sales is that you then wind up having to pay $30+ or more for the "privilege" of transferring a firearm.  Give me a free way to run a NICS check and I would be happy to do it.  Otherwise you will have to use an FFL, transfer it via a 4497 and deal with all the paperwork.

What happens when you don't have an FFL available like D.C.?

Nice that someone is at least thinking about this: A-5117/S-2361

Banning of pre ban magazines is a great move, then change the penalty to a class C felony (1-5.5 years)....are there really people out there thinking about this crap and wasting time on it?

Exactly!  First you make the law that no firearm of any kind can be transferred except through an FFL.  Then you continue the ATF program of reducing the number FFL's, local zoning ordinances to drive them out of business and you get to the point where there are no more around.  Perfect solution for the anti-gun crowd; it is still perfectly legal to own a firearm BUT there is no longer a legal way to transfer it to anyone.  So in about two generations, all firearms are illegal because the original owners have passed away and there is no way they could have been legally passed on to those who currently "own" them.

As a result of our great membership, our fantastic Board of Directors, the advocacy of our President and VP of Legislative Affairs, the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association is working hard each day to ensure that none of these are signed into law.

Thank you all who have taken heed and called, emailed, mailed and/or visited their elected officials to respectfully voice their displeasure over these proposed limits of our freedom.

Stay tuned!

I can't thank you guys enough!  You do way more than the NRA in our state.  I am not for any law that restricts what an individual may own provided they meet the legal requirements to own a gun.  I am, however, in agreeance that some reforms do need to be made.  Mainly in the safety coarse realm, as I would not want to hunt around a bunch of yahoos who have no education on the matter so why shoot next to them?  Also, although it is problematic, I think a firearms ID card is a good idea.  I think the way NY handles pistols is not so bad, minus the restrictions and having to use references from within state you have known for years.  This screws a lot of good people who move here that don't know anyone.
