A while back I was talking to a competitor about their hearing protection that they were using and i can't for the life of me remember where they came from.  They were custom molded ear plugs with a filter in them and its a business that travels around the area and does them at shows and matches.  Any help on who this might be and where they will be would be greatly appreciated.

Ear inc is the company that makes the product. I think the money is better spent on quality electronic muffs but ymmv.

I got roped into buying one of their starter kits 15 years ago but never did anything but make plugs for buddies. They work good but mine became less effective after a few years probably because my ears changed a bit.

If I worked on a range everyday I'd have sordins or pro ear gold.

Are Y'all thinking of Scott Spinks and PremEar (https://www.premearhearing.com  & https://www.facebook.com/premearhearingprotection/)?

Lots of folks swear by them.  In my case, my set never worked very well for me, even after Scott took time to re-work them (and do one over) for me.  Great customer service, just didn't work for my ear-hole configuration!

What do they run? I have seen others online that are several thousands - I assume if they don't work out he is not going to refund them.

I have a pair that I got molded while I was on aircrew. I wear them if I'm shooting rifle (with sordins over).

If I did it over I would have got another set for dedicated earpro instead of the threaded hole for the CEP wire. The company only holds onto molds for so long though.
