| I believe that law enforcement has the right to ask for ID. I just wish that there was an easy way to establish citizenship, currently our state has huge loop holes that illegals can use to get a drivers license. If we just closed the loop holes and actually allowed for prosecution of illegals (deportation) I would be on board with that. Sadly Portland is still a sanctuary city (which is why I don't live there) so I won't hold my breath on anything changing anytime soon. |
Well I just got back from the City Council meeting for this proposal and it was shot down ...I went up and spoke about my mother being a LEGAL immigrant from Cuba and how she made a life for herself ON HER OWN. I then said, the fact that illegal aliens are tolerated in our society is a mockery of the sacrafices my family went through. In the end the city attorney and the local socialists shot it down because there has been legal presidence set on laws like this being unconstitutional. Anyway, it was very educating and I now plan to run for city council. ETA: I might be on TV tonight...

Wait. Are you guys actually voting to have a part of the state designated as a place where the police will ask every inbound person for proof of citizenship? W T F "Papers please." Fuck that. I'm all for securing our borders and making the US inhospitable to illegal aliens. I might even support a "deport them all, build a wall" policy. I will not support any effort to encourage a "papers please" kind of society. No way. |

Thats what every one of those fucking protestors and the two socialists on the council was turning it into. The proposal read as follows: "Upon arrest for any crime in Willamina, OR Yamhill county sheriff's dept SHALL check the identity of the subject with ICE. If the person is found to be an illegal alien he/she is to be deported IMMEDIATELY" Not fucking papers please... I would'nt go for that either, as of right now they only have the "option" to check them against the system, not the "requirement" to... |

I'm all for that kind of thing. Why the fuck is this a county issue? This should be a federal mandate to all jurisdictions. Arrested? Check citizenship. Illegal alien? Deported. Legal alien? Deported upon conviction. Simple. |
