need a Daniel Defense 12" Omega rail installed on my AR, its just got the regular carbine length handguards on it.

From what i understand the front sight/gas block needs to be unpinned, the delta ring assembly taken off, the handguard cap removed and then all reinstalled in order to put the rail on.

Ive also been told it takes a special Daniel Defense barrel nut wrench

this is what a DD rep said (for clarification):

Quoted:
The Omega X 12.0 FSP mounts to a proprietary barrel nut.  To install this rail system will require removing your flash hider, front sight base, delta ring assembly and handguard cap.  Once your barrel is completely stripped you can install the proprietary barrel nut utilizing our bolt up system barrel nut wrench (sold seperately) and a 1/2 drive torque wrench.  After this is complete, you can reinstall your front sight base and flash hider.  The two halves fo the Omega X 12.0 FSP will then mount around the new barrel nut.  All you have to do from here is secure the two halves together with the 6 provided flat head screws, align the rail system to your upper receiver and tighten down the factory installed set screws with the 5/64 allen wrench that will come with the rail system.

Joe @ Daniel Defense.

dunno about the flashhider though

but anyways, im looking for someone in the houston area that can do this personally themselves or within their company in a timely fashion (3-5, maybe 7 days) and will not tear up my gun.

Yep the flash hider has to come off so that the old barrel nut can come off and the new one can go on.

Yeah, give the old, bald, retired coastie some work!
