Anyone know of a decent junk yard anywhere in north Georgia?  I am looking for a front end, rear end and transfer case out of an old K20/30, but I am striking out everywhere.

I used to go parts hunting with a friend when he was into 4x4 stuff and I don't remember having any trouble finding a NP203 or 205 laying around where ever.  Hell he had two Dana 70 front ends just sitting around in his garage.  I would gladly settle for a 60 or a 14 bolt.

You have had luck with pull-a-part???  I have been going over to the one in Norcross for years and never found anything good.  Which is odd because I have been told that I have a nose for pulling salvage parts.  They say the have a C/K-30 from the 70's but I imagine it is a C-30.

If all goes according to plan, it will be going into a '85 K-5.  Not sure yet though.

Pretty descent luck, but mine is going in a jeep so it's narrow trac stuff, not full size.

keep an eye out for vans too.  dodge vans have 60s.  Cab and chassie trucks have a very desirable 14b.  I usually hit the one near 575 and 285.

I want to stick with chevy/gm, so I can more or less bolt right in without many issues.  I wasn't aware that any vans had the full float 14 bolt.  I'll have to look at them more carefully.  I have seen them with the semi float, but I am not interested in that.  I just have to find a 14 bolt out of a chevy with an open differential and a 10.5" ring gear and I will be good to go.

There are FF 14b in the 1 ton vans. Just look under everything.

Are you wanting one to bolt up or are you willing to weld up new perches?  Welding opens up a lot more oppertunities.

I would really like to bolt it up, but I can weld perches as well.  I am going to go to two pull a parts this week and see what I can find.

I am also looking for a rear end out of a 97+ S10 blazer so I'll have some work cut out for me.

So I was looking at pull a part's site to see what the locations had and I noticed that it said no jacks.  If I want a rear end, how am I supposed to get to it without a jack?

What part of the state are you in L 13 ?   That is , how far north ?

Athens.  Whay do you ask?

ETA:  I do make it to middle GA (think Dublin) every once in a while.  And I have friends in south west GA.

They weld the frames to two wheels that make permanent jack stands. They don't sit on their own axles. Easiest way is to cut ( if you can smuggle it in) the U bolts. Or unbolt them and some times the eye bolts are easier to break loose. Take PB blaster and a 4 foot handle extension with you for leverage.

The last one I got , they picked up the truck with a LuLL lift  ( big rubber tired fork lift )  to about 4 feet , smoke wrenched the U bolts.  Is there anything special about 97 on ??

The '97s or '98s have disc brakes.  If I can find a decent rear end with decent rotors and calipers, it would be cheaper than replacing the drums on mine.  Plus i might be ablr to sell my rear end.

As for dragging a 500lb 14 bolt out from under the truck, I hope they are happy to help with the fork truck.

There will be a guy driving around in a fork lift. Cut out some seat belts and tie to the axle, flag him down and motion for him to take the axle. He probably can't speak English.

You might have to drag it to the center isle.

If disc's are what you seek , my stuff won't work.  Blazer rear different from the pickup as far as discs?   I guess you know to check the glove box sticker to verify the same gear ratio.

Some times.  I want to say that after '97 it was an option to get disc brakes on a truck and standard on a blazer.
