Is there a good range anywhere in Southeast Michigan?....  The pit is to far for me, and Island Lake is WAY to PC, and is a bit distant it'self, so is there any other range in the area?....  It has to be rifle rated, I would preffer no magazine, or ammo restrictions, and rapid fire, and full auto OK, and I would also preffer outdoor at least 100 yards, but I'll settle for less the main thing is that it must be rifle rated, and close, I live in Livonia, about a half mile from the Redford border in the northern part of the city....

Private clubs are OK, I might even preffer it but it has to be affordable, I will not pay 500 a year, also the "enrollment" proccess would have to be simple no little catches like for example being the ranges slave for a period of time, or haveing to know a member....

Fat chance, I'm fairly sure no such palce exists.  If you find it, others surely would like to know about it.  Jeff

What is it about the east side of the state?
Why do all of your ranges suck?

I'm always hearing people complain about their ranges being PC, too expensive, too this or too that.

Yes.....the more people you have the more restrictive......or the ranges are non-existant. Fery few public ranges in the lower east half of the state and not many private clubs that offer what this person is looking for. In fact as G-Lock stated I don't think such a place exists ....other than the Pit.

I'd love to find a FA range.  There are some nice ranges, but none that I know of that allow FA.

Pontiac Lake Recreation Area

100, 50, 25 yards.

6 rounds per mag max

No rapid fire

4 dollars a person.

Its about a 25-30 min drive from Redford.

http://www.michigan.org/travel/detail.asp?m=4;10&p=B5441

if the rules are too much, then the only other public option is the pit.

I know of one...it is club, has an indoor range and is pretty expensive....realitivly speaking.

Hunts With Double is the name. It is on 23 mile road by M53 sort of.
It has been discussed here before at great length.
State of the art indoor range...up to 50BMG if I recall.

9245,

If ya don't mind a drive.....

Head west. Plan on a weekend in small town SW Michigan.
(Lots of local Tourist attractions to keep the better half busy while ya shoot, and after ya shoot)

200m covered Rifle range. 2 Trap Ranges, 2 Handgun ranges. Classes offered all year ranging from basic handgun and rifle to Advanced courses instructed by the better names in the industry.

No silly rules except common sense, peer checking, and mutual respect for the club grounds.

45 bucks a year.

Full auto is allowed with Board approval.

Don't mean to tease, just tossing an option at you.

Watervliet Rod and gun club.

Stay Safe!

Its a bit more barebones than bald... no proshop like bald but their rules are a LOT more relaxed.

Ever sense bald closed for repairs 8 or so months ago its been my new rifle range.

capital city rifle club, its in Williamston just outside of Lansing and I believe it cost about 50.00 a year and if you go during the week you are about the only one there. It has a 200 yard range too.

I belong there, meets your requirements, but hardly in SE MI.  Full auto is currently allowed, but under board review, I don't expect a ban, but they may limit to pistol cal. MG's.  Great range, 65 to start, 60 a year after that.  Jeff

Rapid/FA is only allowed on the 25 there, FYI.

From Detoilet, he would be better off going to CCRC than Family Shooters. Closer, cleaner, and larger cost less.

....and at CCRC you don't have to walk passed a huge outhouse that has reached critical mass. It is minorly annoying during the colder months, but walking by that thing in July will make your eyes burn...walking inside of it in July or August will cause convulsions and siezures.

Check out Livingston Gun Club in Brighton. It's a private club with honor system ranges. We have one rifle range (100 yards), six pistol/PCC bays and one shotgun course (Jungle run).

Initiation and first year's dues run around $350. After that it's $150/year. For that you get unrestricted access to all ranges. We don't allow FA. It's one of the few concessions we make to neighbors who hate the club and have tried to shut it down a couple times.

You can get all the gory details at the LGC web site.

Curious, is there volunteer work required?

Place looks interesting. I saw no FA but is rapid fire allowed? (Safely of course)

Is there an indoor range as well? (I will peruse the site more tomorrow, I was just curious now)

TIA
