Well this was the first weekend for the ACL fest here in Austin and it  was hell.

Crowd? No.
Traffic? No.

Noise! Yes. I live two and half miles from the venue. Standing in my backyard the decimal meter on my iPod, yes there is an app for that, showed the sound level peeking at 105.

Now my house has double pane windows and thick insulation in the walls. The noise was so loud I could not hear the tv at it's regular level. Water in my cup was vibrating like a seen from Jurassic park.

I called the city to complain and found out they had complaints from as far as five miles. The level was high even with no wind!

I am glad it is over next weekend.

And before people say you should not have moved into that neighborhood, the fest came to me not the other way around and at this distance it is just noise not music!

That must play hell with the APD gunshot detectors.  I really dislike being bombarded with the thump, thump, thump of music I didn't ask for.

I lived in Terry Town before moving to Lockhart and was often treated to free concerts I didn't ask for.

I was born and raised in the Bouldin neighborhood for 49 years. This year was the worst ever in noise.

I have lived through listening to the boat races, aqua fest, town lake concerts and now ACL fest. ACL this year has been the worst by far. The sound is just noise set to the wamp wamp of bass drums.

What, you think they have to obey the laws of physics?

According to my calculations to be 105 decibels 2 miles away it would have to be over 160 decibels at 6' from the speakers...  that'd freaking melt people's faces off.

Keep a chart with all the noise he same times  each day. Make daily complaints to the police. Complain bitterly in letters to the editor of Pravda...I mean the Statesman......it wont do squat, but it's something to do
