Anyone know the best place in Beaufort/Bluffton/HHI area that has the lowest transfer fees?   PSA is Ridgeland quoted me $45. I think that is a tad high.

Hi - I am up in the Charleston area, there are multiple dealers in the $20 range.  Here is the best way I know of to find an FFL and their fees:

Go to this link in Gunbroker, and put in your zip code

http://www.gunbroker.com/FFL/DealerNetwork.aspx

There are several in the $20 to $25 range in the Beaufort, but I have no experience with them.

Good luck in your transaction.

+1 I think PSA screwed the pooch when they jacked up their transfer fee to $45. I used to use them often, but not anymore.

I looked a while back and noticed one with an address on PI

Yes, I'm stationed on PI. I wish I could change my username though. I asked a mod when I got promoted, but they basically told me to pound sand.

I contacted one guy Rick at Best Gun Broker a ways back, but I don't know if he's even still in business.

ETA - it looks like Best Gun Broker is still in business out in Bluffton doing transfers for $25. That's not bad at all IMO.

I attempted to use Charlie Deal. I got an initial return email and then nothing. I tried calling and got no response.

Port Royal Gun and Pawn should be able to do a transfer for you.  Not sure what they charge but most around here are $20-$25.  I use Walterboro Gun Shop pretty often and they charge $25.  I don't know what PSA is smoking.  They must not want to be bothered with transfers.

PSA won't even do outbound transfers ...

I ended up finding an FFL who's also an active-duty Marine officer. He only charges $20, and he's extremely convenient.

I figured that is who it was when you mentioned PI.  Yeah I know of him and he is a good guy to know especially if you are .Mil on PI or the Air station.

Not local to you, but Blue Line Shooting Center in Florence was doing them for free last year, i don't know if they still do or not.  He figured people would be more likely to do ling-term business with the store- and as far as I could see it was working.
