A gentleman that I did a web page for is going to be offering a 3-day course in the M1A/M14.  He's including trivial stuff like lodging and food.  Oh, and he's going to provide each student with an M1A for the course that becomes the student's rifle at the end of the course, in a brand new hard case (no, not a cheapie, a real case).  I haven't heard a price from him yet, but here's a link to the info:

Any interest?  And what price range would you think would be reasonable?

Nuttin' personal, I think the price is gonna be higher than giraffe pussy @ th' Mobile Zoo.

Many, if not most, who have an interest in this, don't have a need or desire to have this gentleman provide them with an M1A, or hard case.

I kinda have to agree. An m1a is around 1100 3 days at homewood suits is another 200.00 plus the course we are going to be looking close to or over 2k. WAY out of my budget. Also he is going to cover reloading, shooting, maint. and marksmanship in a 3 day course? i can't beleive he can cover any of that very well in that amount of time. <of course i could be wrong> Sounds like this is a beginer course for guys that don't have the gear or any training.

If i am wrong about this feel free to correct me. I am going strictly off the limited info on the website.

Mike,

You could indeed be very right.  I have no idea as to the quality of the gents training, or the depth of it.  I just do the webpage stuff.  I  knew that lots of people around this site like the M1A, and that he's offering the course, so maybe there would be interest.  I asked him how much it's gonna be in an e-mail, but he didn't reply.  I suspect you are correct that it will be $2K+.  I know that it's out of my price range even if it just covered the costs without him making any $$.  So it really doesn't matter to me one way or the other.  I'll post when (if) I get a $ amount.

Woody, thanks for the info.  Seems to me he needs to have a "bring your own weapon, & when flying, hardcase" price & allow people to make their own lodging & maybe even dining arrangements.

FWIW guys, I talked with him today regarding some of the comments and concerns that you have raised.  He is going to offer a bring-your-own-M1A option.  I'm also trying to get him to lay out more detail, and possibly even a schedule, regarding the 3 days of training.  I am under the impression that it's all day each day, so I'm assuming that would be about 8 hours each day.  Hopefully he'll give me more info to put on the website (and pass along here) this weekend or early next week.  Keep the comments coming....
