Plan to make an SBR out of my GAU-5A ASDW.

Any possible pitfalls to watch for?

Will use an engraver in Freeland for doing SBR info inside trigger well.

Anyone in the MBS area willing to assist a Boomer SBR noob in avoiding Form 1 traps?

Have you Form 1ed anything before?

I can't see it being difficult on the Federal level.

As for the State, measure it in its shortest functioning configuration. If under 26 inches, then the fill out an RI60.
