I started working for a company in northern IN and we're looking at relocating from CT. Besides the obvious housing/land costs and the million other considerations, How difficult is it to get a MI CCW ? I've had my CT CCW for over 20 years and would like to make sure that wherever we move, it won't be a hassle to get.

We're looking at the area around the MI SW corner. Any town recommendations ? Ideally we're looking for 5-10 acres to build a house on.

It's fairly simple.  Find a CCW course around where you live first, typically it's a long one day or short two day process.  Once you have your course certificate follow these instructions for application with the state\county:

MSP CCW applicant process

there are a few good links on the right side of that web page too for FAQ, etc...

Also, check out packing.org - it has a lot of comprehensive info on CCW for every state...

Hope you enjoy MI!  SW Michigan is fairly rural and quiet with a few vineyards, so you shouldn't have any troubles finding a nice piece of land....

Thanks for the reply. My wife and I are looking to build the dream/retirement home and as she put it,"A barn big enough for all your shit!" So 5-10 acres with room for a LARGE pole barn and an outdoor range... 100 yards at least.
