My oldest son has his first cage fight this Saturday in Savage at the Neisen Brothers Sports Bar. Should be fun to watch.
Has anyone been to one of these at that location? I have never been there but Savage Entertainment looks to be a pretty professional operation. |

whats your son's name ? weight class ? age ?
i use to train mma / jujitsu / grappling with a local team here, worked some of the shows doing security ( not as exciting as it sounds ) but ive never been to any shows in Savage, mostly at the Myth Nightclub / rochester and iowa. something i was always told was "your first fight is going to be like losing your virginity. it wont last as long as you expect it to, you wont do as good as you plan to" and the other thing was "when that door closes the first time, you get tunnel vision, and wont hear anything from the crowd or the coaches" boy was that right. good luck to your son. |
| He fights in the 205 weight class but this is a catch weight fight at 210. He is a big 205 though. He spent a couple of years training Ju Jitsu at a gym in the metro, now is training out of Cambridge Mixed Martial Arts. A newer MMA gym that has some pretty good up and coming fighters in it. |

TruePunisher - I will have to ask him about that. I think he is just concerned with staying calm, breathing, and keeping his hands up until he can get settled into the fight. Then he can release the beast |

Then he can release the beast "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the head" ( i think Forrest Griffin Said that.... or was it Forrest Gump ? ) J/K
i had a friend who i use to train with, he would come out to the gayest song he could find, and make the DJ play it. he then made sure his opponent would have a VERY bad night. the last thing he should be concerned about is his entrance song, and focus on the FIRST move he makes... that will make or break your first fight, and everything else after that is just instinct. fuck up that first move on your first fight, the rest of the fight you're just trying to survive, and pissed at yourself for fucking up. Payne- where does your son train? ( city ) im itching to just practice some more standup / sparring / striking, its been a few years but with work being so busy i need to find the closest place possible. |

Update on the fight. Weigh-in was Friday. My son was catching the weight at 210 lbs. The opponent shows up at 235 lbs. My son agreed to catch the weight, hands were shook, the fight was going to take place.
Saturday morning the promoter received a call from the opponent stating he was backing out of the fight. No time to find a replacement. No fight took place. One upset young man. Plan for the next one I guess. The promoter was standup and will work on making it right for my son and the people that had made plans to watch him fight. |
