Are the MODCC matches (specifically the one July 2) just rifle or are they rifle and pistol?

What Ron said.  It never hurts to have a pistol as a backup during the rifle course of fire, if your gun jams badly you can just switch to your sidearm and finish that way.  Bring whatever you can, and if you need something else too I'll be there and you can run with my AR or my 1911 or whatever...

Thanks guys. Do I need one of those fancy slings that lets you transition from rifle to pistol while still retaining your rifle?

It helps, but I personally don't use one.  I just use whatever sling I have on the rifle and make it really big and put it over my neck.

Both John and myself have a bad habit of not using a sling.  I wish I had John's run on tape where he used the P90; when he was done with it and went to make a pistol transition, he simply discarded the subgun onto the gravel.  It has a couple of battle scars from that run.

What was the ouch was when John tossed the P90 and drew a completely empty FN Five-Seven to finish the run.  I laughed and laughed... with him, not at him, of course!

Yup, even without shooting the last target, he still won.

He must have cheated.

Actually, Jeff is wrong.  Erik won the course. He smoked through it!
