Quick question,
The part of the shoot that everyone posts videos of at night where everyone goes nuts with tracers and tanerite and the mini-gun; does that happen every night?  I might only be able to come on Friday night and thats the only reason I'm really going.

The night shoot is Sat. only.

Well, damn.  What time does the cool stuff happen at night?  How late does it go till?

starts about 30 minutes after sunset on saturday night, usually goes for about an hour

the way they do the shoots one hour of hot range, one hour of cold range giving guys time to reload

this happens all through the day every day of the shoot.

if you have never been and you like guns, go regardless if you dont make the night shoot.

The one time I tried to go see the nightshoot I arrived 2-hours before sunset and all the viewing spots (the bleachers, the fence at the left, etc.) were totally occupied by masses of people. There was no way I was going to see anything. Mind you the night shoot would be cool, but it's not worth standing like a mindless cow for 6+ hours to get a good spot. Sorry to be pessamistic.

This.

Been there, done that.   The MG shoot is great, but when I go (and I haven't
been in a few years) I go strictly for the gun show.

I went for the first time last year. I was lucky and got right on the fence behind the shooters.

Yes, I was one of those idiots that stood in one spot for 2 hours to get it.

Im going again this year, but this time Im bringing a cooler and a camp chair and some friends to talk to while I sit on the fence!

If you've never been to the night shoot you should definately make an effort to see it at least once. It's really a spectical.

I know you guys love the night shoot but honestly, for me, I saw enough of that in Vietnam. I go for the Friday gun show to catch up with friends and maybe find a deal or two.

Yea, but the Saturday night shoot is special...go see it if you can.

+1 !

This is what I tell everyone ...... You have to go to this at least once to appreciate it. You Tube video's etc. do not do it justice ! Especially when they fire off the MINI - GUN !!
Puts a whole new meaning to " I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning " . I know, I know ..... he said napalm ....

It's been a few years for me,just wondering what are the odds of finding some stripped lowers are?

Got back from Shoot about an hour ago. Everything was great this time, spent to much money and walked my 63 year old ass into the ground. No lowers that I saw, just didn't seem to be as many vendors as in the past. Plenty to see, do and buy though. Go and enjoy tomorrow.

Yah I am thinking about making the Three hour drive tommorow morning! I called this morning and I though I head a mini gun burnin rounds!! Any tips for a first timer! What time should I get there?

I read on another board that there were a few lowers but they were mostly complete for 325 or minus a buttstock for 250. Also read that ammo deals were not as good as online stuff.  Maybe I will go, maybe I won't. It depends on what is going on at the farm.

I was there this morning also looking for lowers, and that about sums it up.  Spent a little money but nowhere near what I had set aside.  Mini gun was definitely slinging lead this morning too...I giggle like a little girl every time I hear one of those things.

Going early Saturday. I've got a few things to try to sell, couples of uppers and an ACOG. I was hoping there would be plenty of lowers. Oh well. I haven't been too impressed with ammo prices at the shoot for awhile now.

I scheduled a personal day today so I could go to the shoot, but since I've been before and have been spending too-much money recently I decided to stay home and enjoy my day off instead. I laid-down about 2pm and woke-up at 9pm after having a dream that me and my girlfriend and people I went to gradeschool with (whom I haven't seen in 18 years) were in a hotel room in Brussels and I was trying to muster my group to go to the trainstation to catch the bullet train to Paris. Despite the bizarre dream, overall I'm happy with my choice to stay home : )

the KCR shop had stripped CMMG lowers for $119

in the show they had a few DPMS stripped for $149 complete for $269

For those looking for complete lowers, Guns From Us is set up in the left rear corner of the overhead. They had DPMS complete lowers as well as lowers without butt stocks yesterday. (Friday) I think that Kenny had some inside as well.

I probably should have went.  I've had a spare newish DoubleStar stripped
lower I'm not going to build on....could have sold it there...

Yep, I have a DPMS lower that needed an upper. Palmetto State had a pretty nice weekend special that tempted me to buy a complete gun. I did end up with a Yankee Hill upper (from Midway, not the MG shoot) and hit the range with it yesterday. Shoots nice, ate Tula ammo from a Pmag with no problems. The BUIS and Aimpoint are now zero'd.

Just waiting on Vengarr's three gun shoot.

you guys have a nice state(too many ugly fat chicks though)...

but that had to be the absolute biggest waste of my time going to that show. the MG shoot part was cool, but the gun show was an absolute rip off. i could have stayed at home and gotten cheaper prices on just about everything on the internet. the ammo prices sucked too. i left with little to nothing except a 1200 mile round trip, and 400 bucks in wasted fuel. i will not be going back to knob creek again.

i do have to say, the knob creek gun shop was pretty impressive... over priced on everything that i saw, but nice and stocked none the less.

The lighting here in the computer room isn't very good for digital pictures, but here it is. Yankee Hill upper with YHM BUIS, pre-ban flash supressor, diamond fluted barrel, 1:7 twist, chrome lined, quadrail hand guards. I added the Aimpoint PRO.

you looked in the wrong places or got there to late, everything I bought was a deal

IFAK normally $90 I found for $35 new with all items vacuum sealed
surefire helmet light normally $100+ I bought for $65
surefire scout IR filter normally $90 bought for $45
dad bought a stripped lower for $119

one dealer had a good deal on eotechs
another vendor had a peq2 for $300

I live just 30 minutes away so I stop by the show on Friday's, the first day its open. If you think the dealers are high...you are correct, many are. But, if you keep your eyes open and know what things should cost....you can do OK. Cash on the table makes a lot of the prices "adjust" for reality. Also, lots of private sales go on. I picked up a rifle off my "I want one someday" list off a private sale. Dealers were asking $750 for the model rifle I bought, I got it for half that and in pristine shape from an individual. You just have to take the time and look.

I picked up a few parts I had been wanting. A ventilated FF hand guard for $50, a nice upper receiver for $60 (both new and from dealers). Oh and got a "blem" in the white upper receiver from DSA for $12. Took five or ten minutes at home to "correct" it. Now I will spray it and use it for a .22 AR build. A bargain.....

So, its all in what you are looking for. You can pay too much....or you can poke around and find deals. Every year I  manage to come up with something that makes the trip worthwhile. But then I live just up the road.

Too many fat ugly chicks?  And your from GA, you are one to call the kettle black (pardon the pun).

Best deals are on Friday, ammo deals have become hard to find and beat the net many times.  If you are looking for parts for MG's or SMG's though, its the place to be.

I go pretty much to look for deals that civvi's normally dont get

knob creek is probably the best place to buy military/leo stuff that normally cant be purchased by civilians but is legal to own

hand toss CS, lots of IR goodies and also the cheapest place for 25mm munitions
