Going to take my new Slidefire 10/22 out for the 4th and wanted to setup some fun targets for everyone to piss away my .22 supply on.

Fruit is the only thing I have come up with.

I was going to do some kind of competition with some thin slats from the lumber yard but I'm not sure if that will work so well with .22 LR.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Oooh I like all these ideas.

I've seen luan, but what is it and how does it react to gun fire?

Clays are a maybe but the don't tend to degrade quick enough for my dad's taste.

Love the saltines idea.

I bought 2 packs of those "Baby Boomer" rimfire binary explosive kits for the 4th.

Cool idea, but that would guarantee the end of shooting back there for a few weeks after the July sun gets a hold of it.

Plastic soda bottles, filled with water.

An old washing machine; use a Sharpie to make bullseyes on it.

Bought this beer about 2 years ago based on the local liquor store's recommendation. Worst beer I've ever had. Found it out in the garage last week. Worked good as a 22 target. The smell made me gag though.

It stands up to shooting better than cardboard, should not be dense enough to bounce 30-40gr projectiles like 3/4" plywood can.

Also, it's fairly cheap.

If you can find generic soda on sale they work fine as well.  Not as biodegradable as the luan.

I wussed out.  After bagging up all the guns and helping my dad cook an setup things for the kids (he's going in for knee replacement on the 10th) I just didn't have the energy.

We shot up some baby boomers instead with it, which turned out to be the only gun we had that would take those damn things out.

If ammo was cheaper I would have used v-max bullets on the .223 and brought melons, shaving cream, and diet sodas.  Less to clean up :)
