I have recently purchased a essential arms pre ban lower receiver and a colt 6721 upper. I am patiently waiting for the parts kit so that I can finally assemble it and have some fun shooting. However I am now in the market for some mags. A friend of mine was telling me that as long as you had a pre ban lower receiver you were ok to own post ban high capacity mags (such as pmags). I was just wondering what the law on this was. I was also interested in some 10 rounders for prone shooting and such and I was wondering if those could be ordered new because they were only limited to 10 rounds. Thanks for any info.

Sorry, but you're friend is wrong.  Regardless of the gun you want to use them in, any mag that holds over 10 rounds has to be pre-ban, in NY.  The NY AWB's mag restrictions has it's own section.

Yes, you can order brand new 10 round mags for your AR.  I hear C-Products has some good 10 rounders.
