So I'm looking at a Ruger sr9 on gunbroker and I see it comes with a 17 rd Mag, I was at Zeus's in EHT last thursday and they're selling it with a 17 round magazine. Are they modifying the mags? I want this sr9 but I'm not sure if they block the magazine at the ffl or something along those lines. Any help is appreciated.
This also goes for when I build my AR, I'm curious how to block or pin the magazines. I have 3 permits burning a hole in my pocket! LOL well 2, 1 have commited to my Grandfathers Walther p38 that I'll have this week :) thanks! Pete |

But the answer to your question is, No. They cannot sell a SR9 to a NJ resident with the standard 17-round mag. So, they either have it for sale over the internet or the mags have been modified. Or, some clerk as made a humongous mistake. I would recommend against modifying your own AR mags. My recommendation would be to buy them already modified or have them sent to a gun smith for modification. But if you are doing it yourself, the law only says that it has to be permanent. |

They can to an LEO if he has a letter from his Chief stating it's for duty purposes. That said, As far as blocking the ,agazines yourself, understand that possessing even a disassembled Magazine is a violation..NJ is NOT california, we dont have a "Rebuild Kit Exception here" |

Because the statute requires that the magazine be "capable of holding more than 15 rounds of ammunition to be fed continuously and directly therefrom into a semi-automatic firearm." Nothing in the statutes state that having parts and pieces to assemble a large-capacity magazine are illegal (in contrast to that of assault firearms - where it IS stated that it is unlawful to possess parts to assemble, or convert, an assault firearm). |
