Great pics! Reminds me of a couple canoe camping trips I took up on the W. Branch of the Penobscot. First night camp was Lobster Lake and then down the river and camping here and there. A camp or two on Chesuncook down to Ripogenus dam where we left a vehicle. I have a pic around here somewhere of me and buddies leaning up against the Chesuncook "fire department" - a 5 foot square shack. We were camping up there way back when hurricane Bob came through. We were evac'd to the ranger's cabin for the night. We got to eat home cooking and they got to share our booze They must have liked us because they gave us a half hour head start down the river ahead of any other canoe campers so we'd get first dibs on the good campsites.Good times! |

Edit to add - top center of the photo is Sentinel Mountain. I hiked that Sunday, foggy/rainy, no view. Very top center, behind Sentinel in the distance, is Big Spencer Mt., one of my favorites. Quoted:
These are awesome but they don't make the best tablefare. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a329/Dogman-ME/HPIM1186.jpg Are those Morganzas? |

Nice, I am going to have to remember to hike saddleback when I get back into the state. The only mountain I have hiked in the region so far was tumbledown but from your pics it looks like an excellent hike! Saddleback & the Horn made for an awesome dayhike! Hiking Mt. Blue tomorrow, guess I got tired of looking at it all the time without actually climbing it. I'll post pictures, too. |
