| What justifies the $800 price difference between the USP Tactical .45 and the Mark 23? |
Because the Navy SEALs use it, duh! Really you are getting a bigger pistol that will be a little more accurate and more controllable under rapid fire. They really are an amazing combat .45 pistols that have been tested to no end. Between the two, if money is an issue, I would get the Tactical. It does what the MK23 can do in a smaller package. If I had extra cash I would pick up the MK23 as well just for the history and the WOW factor. Same reason I would get a deagle (though the MK23 would be a little more practical). Here is the gun in action www.hkpro.com/video/Mark%2023-MK23.mov and some info if you have not already seen it www.hkpro.com/socom.htm |

If your starting to creep into the 1500 range anyway you should seriously consider the STI tactical. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=88&t=469393 There is a reason almost everyone uses a 1911 format in USPSA, they can be tuned more easely and handle better. And if you took the two apart you would find the STI to be a better made pistol. Here's one in action, and you can see this one actualy hitting targets. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cay7UTL8nPk&mode=related&search= The first time you pick one up you'll be impressed, the first time you shoot one you'll be in love. |
When I was in "the teams" I was the assistant gunner for the Mark23. I carried 4 extra barrels and 4000 rounds of AP HE SABOT .45ACP. shhh... I'm not supposted to talk about it. Mark. |
To me...nothing. I ended up getting the Tactical. That said, the Mark 23 is a monster .45 ACP gun, but surprisingly light. Of course the non-compatible parts, different thread pitch, high price point, different mags, etc. etc. make it more of a "custom" gun than anything else. |

The reason I'm asking is that I want to use one as a host for a .45 YHM can. Money isn't a big deal............but I don't want to be foolish either. I'm not into spending $800 more for a gun that is almost the same. But if everyone has specifics as to why a person would benefit by having one over the other. I'm interested in hearing it, so I can make the best judgement. I'm thinking by Pats reply...................its the shit, and I need one!!!! Anyone got one to try out? |
You have to have man-hands. Not little Asian girly hands.

If I make it out I'll bring mine today. It's still up in the air if I'll make it. If you're patient and spend some time looking. putting out feelers, and all the other effort to find a good deal, they can be had for about 1300 used, instead of the 1800+ new. Mine was like new, only drawback is it's not old enough to have the slide lock. Midway is the ticket for mags. |
| This might be off topic here but my wife treated the wounds of an SF soldier in Afghanistan that had his Mk 23 KB while practicing with it. I don’t know the cause or if one was ever determined. Just speculating I’d guess it was ammunition related. I mentioned this elsewhere and the comment was made that that’s what happens when you buy your ammo from the lowest bidder. |
Page 2 is mine bitches!!!!
Not me.........Mine just came in the mail yesterday. I'll have it at Pat's by 11:00 at the latest!!! |
