When I first started shooting tactical rifle matches 8-9 years ago, there was a guy that used to give them hell with his Mini-14. I know of at least one local guy can give us a run with his iron sighted Mini-14. The guys that shoot with us are liable to show up with just about anything. I think that you'd be in good company. |
When did you get back in town? Last thing I heard, you were out in Texas, burning down CnL's house. ![]() Hope you feel better MM. I'd make you some chicken soup, but I doubt my culinary skills would produce any better result than yours did.

Every year the Carolina Star holds benefit matches for local groups; Habitat for Humanity, local schools, etc. This match will be held to benefit the Aiken County SWAT TEAM. The match will be held on June 11, at the Carolina Star. The cost of the match is $30 per shooter. The match consists of 4-6 person teams competing in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun events as follows: Pistol - 1) Bullseye Pistol - shot on standard scoring targets. 2) Speed Plate Run - (6) 8" plates at 25 yards - Man on Man. Rifle - 1) Speed Plate Run - (9) steel plates at 50 yards - Man on Man. 2) 100 and 200 yard precision rifle - shot on standard scoring targets. 3) 500 yard precision rifle - shot on 10"x14" plate. Shotgun - 1) 5-stand Sporting Clays 2) Buckshot Run - 12" targets from 40-80 yards - Man on Man. 3) Turkey Shoot There is also a competition for the best "Hunting Truck", that may net you a few extra points. :) My team has won for as long as I can remember. I wish someone would kick my ass....the pressure is killing me. ![]() If you don't have a team, show up to shoot, and they'll hook you up with a group of shooters. |

Russell and Mark, thanks for a great match. The stages were fun and challenging. Russell deserves a big "job well done" he designed the match and did the timing and shot it with his leg still screwed up form last year. His normal partner in crime was not available so another good guy Mark Sullivan helped set up, run, score and break down the match. Thanks, Mark. We had a fair turn out and hopefully those that came, 13 or so had a good time. After tear down most of us went to the BBQ buffet, yum! Those people on this forum that have not come down, for whatever reason, owe it to yourselves to come. This is low key, fun shooting. You will find out what areas of your equipment and or skill/technique are lacking. Free advice work on mag changes. Off the soap box, great match. Scott |

Just show up and bring ammo, we'll spot you the guns and gear. But, just because your a lightweight, don't expect our guys to go easy on you.

We try to hold the matches every month. We won't be having a match in June because of another match. We always post the match announcements here in the Hometown Forum, so stay tuned. And as for "sticking out", I think they'd have to look hard to find you in our normal line up. |
....Are you up to it??
