| I've met people from other boards before but never anyone from ARFCOM, till today. Slacker was kind enough to show non shootign me how the ef to shoot a GD handgun with precision. Although my "groups" looked more like shotgun patters! LOL Anyhow I hope to never be on the recieving end of his tools! Tha man can shoot! We also learned that my P22 hits where you aim it, but the trigger sucks for tgt shootign. Still fun to shoot none the less. On a side note I ran a couple of mags of CCI Velocitors through it, and about 1/2 the time I felt a small piece of metal hit me in the forehead. I don't know if it was brass or what, but it was wierd. Seeing as they're loaded hot for a .22LR it could well have been. The .45 upper kicked ass BTW. I don't know if you heard the guys in the next lane, but they couldn't figure out WTF it was. Thanks for the tips on shooting man. See ya around. |

Thanks for letting me try out your P-22. That is a near perfect pistol to teach someone how to shoot with. Small grip, no recoil and cheap to feed. Good choice. I didn't hear the guys in the next lane, but one of them did ask me "what is dat?" I told him it was a .45 and went back to what I was doing. It is evil looking ain't it? I sorted all that brass out...I can't wait to get my Dillon. I've got 15 coffee cans and two big x-mas cookie tins full of handgun brass. Looking forward to making up some custom loads for the local bowling pin match. It was a pleasure meeting you, call anytime. btw, Wed nights here in NN we have pin/steel plate matches. If you think shooting the shootNsee targets is gun, try shooing 5 pins off a table! Much fun. |
| Yeah I noticed the ".45" go back to sweeping thing. Had to look down so I didn't laugh. Evil is good though. When you handed it to me at first one guy was like "holy shit...what's that" to his buddy. He chased down a flying piece of brass to figure out it was a .45. The guy that asked you came in later IIRC. Thats a lot of brass, I hope you get it all loaded up. It should keep you busy for a while, loading mags and shooting it all. I keep all the brass for my 30/30 and when I shoot the P22 or my Mod 60's in the same general area I pick that brass up to. I figure when I get enough I'll turn it in for scrap...hell I paid for it may as well get some $$$ back from it for more ammo! |
Thanks Slim. You ever get a taller front sight for that Bushy of yours? I was worried that the irons on my Oly (both front and back are flip up type) wouldn't line up, but I got lucky. Only had to make one click of elevation. |

I did get the .040 higher sight post with my recent order from Bushmaster. No time to put it in yet, and I won't be able to go shooting for a week or so, work and whatnot. I'm gonna sight it in at 50 yds though, I looked at the numbers and that seems to make more sense. I think BVMJetHead was going to do the same. I am looking at some glass, though. I think a 4x32 ACOG would fit well on my 20" A2 profile flattop. I gotta mail it to Kurt's Kustom today to get the FH replaced and lug ground off. |
I've got an A2 front sight tool if you need to borrow it. Give me a hollar when you deceide to go sight it in. I'll tag along... I checked out a mini-acog at the Richmond funshow and the eye relief sucked. Mabey the full size scopes have more. They sure do look cool. Whats turn around for Kurts work now a days? I've got an upper that needs to head his way soon. I'm having problems parting with it though. Mabey I'll just hand carry it... Anyone know how far from Naples his shop is? I'll be headed that way third week in May. Perhaps I'll just stop in and meet the man.... |

Not sure what Kurt's lead time is now, but "days" would be great. I'm not sure what he has automated and what is by hand. Mine doesn't involve the lathe, so hopefully not too long. I just shipped it out, so I'm hoping he'll get me an estimate when I send the payment. I got a sight tool with the upper, after using a bullet at LGC for 20-some clicks it got old. I've heard of Kurt doing some while-you-wait work, but I'm guessing that's not SOP. There was no other way to get the combo I wanted, I had to neuter a pre-ban to get the 1-7" twist. I need an optic for it anyway, and the lead time for an ACOG might be even longer! |
The mini-acogs all have different eye relief, if you look at the spec sheet. Some of them have about 3.xx" some have a lot less than that....not sure which one you looked at but my guess is it was one with the 20mm or whatever front lense and 3x mag? Mine is about 3" eye relief.....not sure the model though. Ed |

I have an ELCAN on one of my pre-bans. I like it quite a bit. It's very forgiving of eye-relief and gathers light in dim conditions like nobody's business. The opitcal clarity is great, as can be expected from Ernst Leica of Canada (ELCAN). You can find used ones on the net easier than ACOGs. There always seems to be some guy in Canada that's selling a surplus one. Bigger and heavier though, so that's something to consider. Worth looking at though before you drop the kinda cash an ACOG will require. Ross |
