| Whats up guys? I will be in town, miami beach for the weekend and have a couple questions about bars and maybe restaurants. I come down maybe twice a year to stay with my girlfriends parents and am looking for new places to go drinking and great places to eat. I already go to the nice fancy places and tourist spots like OPA, but I'm seeking your help in finding some real bars that aren't all velvet ropes and gay guys. I'm with some people that really like to drink, but we aren't clubbers. So any advice on some local bars maybe just across the bridge or any spots in the Miami Beach area is greatly appreciated. Also any great low key local restaurants I shouldn't miss, nothing fancy just good food. Last ? is I also need to go to a board shop and get some new board shorts, if any of you know some good board shops please let me know. Your help is appreciated. Thanks |

Tobacco Road is just off the river across from Miami Beach at the 600 block of South Miami Avenue. Professional drinkers have been going there for close to 100 years now. If it's early enough, check out Garcia's Seafood on NW North River Drive as well.
Don't surf, so can't help you out with a board shop. |
| I've heard tobacco road is nice, Churchill's isn't too far from the beach and isn't bad from what I hear. There is a place called Deweys? off of Alton and just south of 10th st. used to go there after work with a lot of the guys when I worked at the convention center, not too bad of a place. |

Take a trip to Key Largo.
Take a snorkeling trip to Molasses Reef at Pennekamp State Park. Find a place to stay by Holiday Isle in Islamorada and drink all night. Forget South Beach. The serious party spots are down south. Hollywood has some nice jazz clubs too up north for the older crowd. |

Clark's in South Beach is really nice, and in a cool part of town.
http://miami.citysearch.com/profile/41876767/miami_beach_fl/clarke_s.html The owners name is Laura and she is very nice and down to earth. The food is standard Irish pub fare, but tasty. I recommend the Blue Cheese Burger and have been told the bangers and mash is great. Taverna Opa Of South Beach is great. The Gyro platter is a bunch of food, drinks are strong. Red's has a good steak, but is very pricey and noisy. Great wine list, but they add about 80 bucks to the price of a good bottle. Prime Italian. Expensive, but one entree feeds 3-4. Worth going to just for the garlic bread. Not a big fan of the Kobe Pizza, but the other dishes are great and the steak is the same as Prime 112 just across the street. http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/12/1413952/restaurant/Miami/South-Beach/Prime-Italian-Miami-Beach In FLL on 84 some of the best Thai I have had around here is at Thai 84 just north of the airport. |
